Dr. Naren Raj Ramakrishna, MD

Naren Raj Ramakrishna, MD, PhD, is the director of Neurologic and Pediatric Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando.

After completing his bachelor’s degree in biology at The Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Ramakrishna went on to the Medical Scientist Training Program at Cornell University’s Weill Cornell Medical College where he received his medical degree. He earned a doctorate in cell biology and genetics from the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences at Cornell University.

After an internal medicine internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, he completed a residency in radiation oncology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was the chief resident. He also completed a Koch Research Fellowship in gene therapy at The Johns Hopkins Hospital Oncology Center and Brady Urological Institute and received an AACR-Glaxo Wellcome Oncology Scholar Award.

Dr. Ramakrishna served for eight years on the faculty of Harvard Medical School where he was an …instructor in radiation oncology. He was also the chief of Central Nervous System Radiation Oncology at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center and the director of the CNS Radiation Oncology Fellowship Program. He is a diplomate of both the United States Medical Licensing Examination and The American Board of Radiology.

Dr. Ramakrishna’s extensive research is published in numerous medical journals and textbooks and he is often invited as a guest speaker to conferences and universities.
