The best physician I have ever had. So fortunate to be under her care.

Dr. J has been my physician and part of “Team Katherine” since 2009. With a complicated medical history including chronic disease, she is supportive of my seeking out both holistic health and conventional medical information and options. She is caring and knowledgeable, and always respects my choice. Dr. J listens and takes patient concerns seriously. In 2010, her justified concern over a tiny lump under my ear resulted in a 6-hour rare Parotidectomy, tumor removal and reconstructive surgery. Thanks to Dr. J, I’ve had no complications since. In 2011, her quick call to me in a Cabo ER, and her advice (contrary to the renal specialist's), resulted in an emergency flight home for surgery that saved my kidney. Two years ago we relocated over two hours away from Dr. J. However, if she’s in the state of California, I will drive whatever distance is required to remain a patient under her incredible care. I highly recommend Dr. Johansen.

Dr. Atwan Johansen is the best primary care physician I have ever had. She is so attentive to my chronic conditions and is so responsive and diligent in managing any acute issues I have. I trust her medical knowledge, thoroughness and her ability to manage my medical team with such care and compassion. We need more physicians like her in this world!!

do not trust this woman. she told my daughter she had a chronic disease instead of just the WELL KNOWN SIDE EFFECTS of the unnecessary antibiotics that were given EMPIRICALLY. CHRONIC DISEASE IS LUCRATIVE and this woman is going for the money. no compassion at all for patients. good fake smile though....run!!!

Dr. Atwan listens. She cares. Doesn't hesitate to refer to other specialists at Stanford. She's everything a primary care doctor should be. I feel very lucky to have her on my health care team.

Dr. Atwan is a good doctor. She seemed smart, clear, and friendly. The only criticism I would have is that she didn't seem to read my medical history properly before giving me some advice (she just glanced over it), and so I had to correct her at one point and then she gave me more appropriate advice. I would give her 3 stars out of 4 as a doctor because while I'm sure she's brilliant being a doctor at Stanford, I've been to other doctors who were more careful and listened a bit better. Her staff was friendly but extremely disorganized. Dr. Atwan asked me to call her office with some medical information that she would then use to give me some further information. After giving the information to 3 different staff members and it not reaching Dr. Atwan, I just gave up and decided to go to another doctor instead. They also incorrectly billed me, so I had to call my insurance company, which then called her office and ultimately it was corrected, but it wasted several hours of my… time.

Dr. Atwan listens and cares. She refers you on to specialists if necessary and will take excellent care of you. Everything you want in a primary care doctor.
