Dr. Nelson Charlie, MD

Extremely qualified and provides excellent care

I have not rushed to write this review; however, I think it is important that physicians and patients are aware that the patient is a participant in his/her care. The item that I wish to address is when Dr. Charlie found a basal cell carcinoma on my back and said he wanted to biopsy it. I agreed since I have had them before (and this lesion was in an area on my back that I couldn't see) and knew that I would need the results of the biopsy before my Mohs surgeon would schedule the Mohs surgery that I always have for removal of basal cell carcinoma. While he was doing the biopsy I smelled my flesh burning and asked what was happening and he said he was cauterizing the lesion for removal. I responded that I though it was just a biopsy since I always get Mohs for removal (99% cure rate) to which he answered, "For a person in your age group it is a waste of taxpayers' money". Of course, I went to my Mohs surgeon and there were malignant cells left in that had to be removed etc. The… deed speaks for itself.

I really like this doctor. He is thorough, very nice and spends adequate time with me each time I go. He doesn't push cosmetic treatments either which other Dermatologists have done with me.

Told me to do nothing about my situation and if it didnt improve like it should than I was to come back and see him, Well it didnt improve. I called to make an appt and was told I would have to wait 2 and half weeks. I stated to the lady on the phone that I was told by the doctor to come back if it didnt improve and she said they are having that problem alot with returning patients and there was nothing available for 2 and hlaf weeks. I am assumming he doesnt have many repeat patients. I am definetly not going to be one of them. Thanks but no thanks.

Dr. Charlie is an excellent dermatologist. His knowledge and time with me made a very difficult process easier.

Going to the dr is never fun, but it was great to have such results after my 2nd visit. It wasn't a painfree process but it worked. Follow up exceeds that of any other doctor i have seen. He actually puts an hour a day aside to call his patients. Would recommend highly

a factory. Staff is your typical uncaring medical office with zero customer service skills.

I have been going to Dr. Nelson Charlie for over 2 years. I have never found his manner particularly warm, but a visit yesterday proved to be the 'breaking point'. I arrived early for a 2:30P appointment, I was taken in to the examining room at 2:30, where I was left until 3P. At 3P, with no doctor in sight, I walked out to go to the bathroom just across the hall. I was told by the 20 something nurse that I couldn't go, and that if I did "another appointment would be moved ahead of me". I explained to her that this was inhumane and that if she did move another appointment ahead of me, she would never see me again in his office. When I returned after 2 minutes, the doctor was in the examining room. I expressed by displeasure on his staff member's attitude, and he seemed somewhat unphased by my comments. He was more concerned about getting on with the exam rather than dealing with a patient concern. If you are looking for a doctor with a sense of patient service, caring bedside… manner and genuine concern for patient well-being, then I would go elsewhere. This doctor is about churning patients and his bottom-line.

Each time that I have visited Dr. Charlie's office I have been impressed with not only the professional courtesy of the staff, but the sophisticated technology used in all functions of the office. Dr. Charlie has a warm approachable personality and is obviously very skilled and knowledgeable regarding his methods. I have recommended Dr. Charlie to quite a number of friends/relatives and each one has commented of the superior level of care and service received. Thanks so much for the best dermatology care I have ever received.
