Dr. Nelson Hwynn, DO

Read his reviews they're all alike. There is no compassion, he's terribly rude, uninvolved and in a big hurry to get to his next patient. I waited over three months to see him. I'm 71 and resentley diagnosed with a scary rare disease. I was scared and had several questions of which none were answered. HUGE EGO.!!!

Dr. Nelson Hwynn isn't a bad doctor or neurologist per se. However, booking an appointment with him is a nightmare like almost 6 months. My wife wasn't impressed whatsoever. And communicating with him is nearly impossible for follow-ups or questions. You can easily find a more responsive neurologist

Poor listener. Wrong diagnosis.Stay Away.

On initial contact, one may mistake his arrogance for competence. However, if you seek a thoughtful, reasoned opinion, which is developed and presented in a respectful manner, go elsewhere. A second opinion saved my life!

Very nice. Listens to me.

I made an appointment for my 88 year old mother. We got to the office early and was admitted to the exam room about 10 minutes before our appointment. The nurse took blood pressure, temperature, heart rate and the usual questions. Dr. Hwynn walked into the exam room at exactly the appointment time. He spent 30 minutes discussing symptoms, performing tests, explaining his observation and possible treatments. He made notes in the computer and told us to think about treatment options and let him know what we decide. A week later he called at 7PM Wednesday night and we agreed on a treatment plan. What a great doctor!

Brought a family member to assist with informing doctor of my Neurological issues. When doctor left the room at one point family member stated they wished they could "smack" the doctor because of his disrespectful obnoxious attitude towards me. Stated all Neurological issues I had for over 20 years were *obviously* anxiety based. Denied previous diagnosis of Peripheral Neuropathy although I have continued to intermittently have pins and needles in my feet and hands and have various numb areas on my body. Stated to us that nothing he said to me was going to make me happy. (at this point this was obvious) Misread Neurological memory testing report, stating that all of testing was positive (or fine, which it was not) Misread parts of a Neurological report from another doctor and restated his "version" in my records. Then had the gall to thank a doctor (not the one who had sent me to him for testing) for sending this 'very nice patient' to him. His attitude, demeanor and lack of… general courtesy has made me extremely distrustful of seeking treatment from another Neurologist.
