Dr. Nicola Catherine Sater, MD

Dr. Sater has been negligent with my care since transitioning from private practice to Sibley hospital. She had managed my medication for over 20 years; I called for refills because I was getting low on medication. After waiting for two weeks, she had still not contacted me. She did not have a secretary. Panicked, I called my internist who immediately responded. I also continued to attempt to contact Dr Sater; I spoke to another attendant on the floor who would not connect me with Dr Sater until I said that I had been her patient for 20 years. Dr Sater told me that “she was swimming under water.” Then, rather than call in my prescription, she insisted that the pharmacy fax her. Finally, my internist refilled my prescription and arranged to examine me. Dr Sater no longer prioritizes her patients.

When Dr Sater transitioned from private practice to Sibley Hospital, she sent a letter to her patients saying that she was happy to keep seeing them. Being a patient for many years, I wanted to remain under her care. Unfortunately, in spite of her letter, she indeed never responded to any of my calls when I needed a refill for medication that I had been taking for a good number of years. There was no secretarial service, and I started to panic when, after two weeks of not hearing back, my medicine was almost used up. Finally, I got a physician on the floor who would not contact Dr Sater until I said that I had been a patient for over 10 years! Eventually, I spoke to Dr Sater who told me she was so busy that she was “under water.” She was not willing to call the pharmacy and in spite of her negligence, insisted that the pharmacy had to fax her. I suggest that you look for a responsible physician who prioritizes the welfare of patients.

Arrogant and presumptuous

Does not return calls for several days. When I had difficulty with a medication she increased the dose leading to, surprise, more difficulties. Not a good listener and I get the impression that she knows all the answers before she asks the questions. Pretty expensive also. Look elsewhere.

I had Dr. Sater while I was in Sibley Hospital. She was the worst psychiatrist I have ever had. She wasn't the least bit empathetic, she was impossible to talk to, and she challenged my integrity by accusing me of cheeking my meds and also accusing my boyfriend of sneaking in meds (neither of which happened). She should not be a practicing psychiatrist. BEWARE!!!!

I would highly recommend Dr. Alipanah. She is the best doctor I have ever been to, and I have been to too many! She is warm, caring, an excellent listener, kind, funny, smart, and an (IMO] highly competent. I saw her years ago and am only filling this out now because I was just telling a friend who wanted a referral how great she was - looked her up to see if she was still in the area. Fantastic doctor.

Great MD. Fabulous and warm. Would definitely recommend her for eating disorders or anything. Very compassionate and solid.
