Dr. Nicolas Uzcategui

This doctor is not a good doctor, he must think he a plastic surgery, trust me he isn’t. I have very obvious scars from the center of my face to the hair line over both eyes, and still have droopy eyelids!!! Be very careful or he will botch you too.

Very disappointed in the care and quality. Apparently more concerned with maximizing billing than the patient care.

Didn't answer my questions, talked quickly, and hard to understand. Rushed the visit and even checked his phone twice! Never really explained what the lesion in my eye was or whether it was something to even be concerned about. Wanted me to get $300 steroid eye drops (that's AFTER insurance pays for a portion) to take for a month and if the inflammation -behind- the lesion did not go away or get better, he would do a biopsy. He said the inflammation could potentially be the first stages of malignancy or something else. Well it ended up that I had a Conjunctival Papilloma - which was simply removed by the Dr I got the 2nd opinion from. They sent it to a lab for extra peace of mind, but she immediately recognized the growth and eased my concerns of something more serious. The removal and the lab work cost me less than the drops Uzgategui prescribed. Luckily, I never picked up the drops and didn't have to pay for them. I asked the 2nd Dr about the inflammation -behind- the lesion… and she did not see anything abnormal other than the lesion itself. She said the only inflammation was in the growth itself, which is normal for Papillomas. Uzgategui described the tumor I have as "more of a blister" - which it isn't and that comment was just strange to me. He also put down a diagnosis of Pyogenic Hemangioma, which isn't even close to what it ended up being. He told me while they were entering that into the notes that he "had to just put something in the system, though that may not be what it is." Little weird. Then he also started talking about dry skin and rosacea and tried to upsell me on face creams while I'm there to try to figure out if what I had in my eye was malignant or not. Not the time! Would not go back.

I went to so many other physicians, none of them could figure out what was wrong with me. Finally, I got a referral to see Dr. Nick. He took such good care of me, you could tell medicine was his passion. I was diagnosed, treated and on the path to full recovery in weeks. I am so grateful. That referral changed my life.

Dr. Nick was able to get to the bottom of what was wrong with me after I was referred to him by another physician who couldn't figure it out. He spent a lot of time talking to me and coordinating my care with my other doctors as well. He took me seriously when no one else had in the past. I couldn't be more pleased with my experience. I will be forever grateful to him.

I was in a bad situation, having seen and been treated by another eye specialist, who did nothing for me. I was finally led to my first meeting with Dr. Uzcatequi. He didn't pull any punches (he knew what he was looking at)he gently, yet firmly,explained what needed to be done and quickly. After having the biopsy and lab results returned, it was exactly as he predicted. I had a rare form of eyelid cancer, sebaceous gland carcinoma.From then on he made all the appointments and surgical arrangements (pulling strings) so I could get it done as soon as possible. I had my final reconstructive surgery within one month of diagnoses. I visited my family in England this past summer and they couldn't believe the outcome of my surgery. They asked me, 'which eye was operated on' that's how skilled he is. If you want to look the best, you need to get the best doctor. I can't praise him enough. With Dr. Uzcatequi my outcome was great and I am so thankful to him. I have no doubts about recommending… him.
