I found Dr. Donnellen through a Google search. I was looking for a female doctor who would be more understanding and aware of the struggle of living with endometriosis. I was experiencing a resurgence of pain due to what I believed to be endometrial tissue, and wanted to discuss the possibility of a hysterectomy. Although I had to wait a but for an appointment, things did move smoothly and quickly once I had seen the doctor, who is friendly, clear, and listened to everything I had to say before we went into the exam room (which I thought was a nice touch, as a gynecological exam can be....off-putting). She clearly explained what she was doing during the exam, and used both common language and medical terms to explain her diagnosis. I did not know what adenomyosis was, but I did know that I did not live with such pain any longer, especially if it was likely to get incrementally worse. I opted to have a hysterectomy. The only other viable option was oral contraceptives which cause too… many other prolems for me. I so appreciated that Dr. Donnellen was willing to perform a hysterectomy, as I am very young, and many health care providers won't do it. Although I am still freshly post-operative, I feel tremendous relief.
