I was scheduled for an emergency procedure because of extreme pain while I was actually passing my stone, by another doctor in the practice. He thought that I wouldn't pass my tiny stone by myself. This unnecessary procedure would render me in an awful pain for an extended period of time, by placing a kidney stent in me, had I gone through it. At the hospital my pain subsided and I began having doubts about the need for the procedure. Right before surgery, I asked Dr.Karanikolas if I should have it, and he was honest and said if I wait, the stone would just come out by itself because it was near passing. I declined the surgery. Sure enough, the stone passed by itself a day later. If not for this doctor with integrity, I would suffer needlessly still. Thank you, Dr.Karanikolas!

WAS MY HUSBANDS UROLOGIC ONCOLOGIST. COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A MORE DEDICATED, INFORMATIVE, HELPFUL AND CARING PHYSICIAN AND MAN. HELD MY HAND THROUGH HIS LONG BATTLE AND WAS SUPPORTIVE AND UNDERSTANDING THROUGHOUT. WAS ALWAYS WILLING TO TRY SOMETHING NEW OR DIFFERENT AND KEPT HIS OPTIMISM THROUGHOUT. NEVER GAVE UP. Dr. Karanikolas is a fantastic doctor. I had a pretty rare kidney situation and he took the time to properly find a solution. He didn't rush into any unnecessary procedures. He ran lots of test and found out exactly what was needed to be done. When I was in the O.R waiting for my kidney removal I had no anxiety what so ever. I was 100% comfortable with him performing the surgery and he did an outstanding job! I would recommend him to anyone!!!
