Dr. Nirit Weiss, MD

I can NOT stress enough about how much I would NEVER recommend her to anyone. Ever. She has horrid bedside manner, personally of a slug. Speaks to patients & their loved ones as if they are slime on her shoe & she is far superior to them. You will also have a surgery, and never see her again. She doesn’t care at all about patients. All about the dollars. Everything is done through her PA - who is a useless space cadet. She also had us arrive at Mt. Sinai at 7AM (so we had to leave Long Island by 5) saying surgery was scheduled for 10. Arrive to find it is not scheduled til noon, and we sat around exhausted for five hours. A surgery that we were told would talk 60-90 mins took over five and a half hours with zero explaination from Dr. Weiss as to why. Just a voicemail that it is over and you can call her office with questions. Left the hospital being told to see her for our scheduled follow up, she never said anything about a follow up and left zero postop instructions. I had to google… them. Two months later, I receive a bill with a $95 copay for a $700 charge for the blood bank. I NEEDED BLOOD FROM THE BLOOD BANK?! Dr. Weiss doesn’t think that this is something I, or my waiting and nervous family, needed to know? She sucks. Period. That is a sneaky liar who doesn’t want you to know she had complications. Never ever go to this doctor.

I am a patient of Dr. Weiss. She performed a five level laminectomy for severe stenosis. I was impressed she used a microscope and monitored my spine during the procedure. Although curt at first, Dr. Weiss was the neurosurgeon who recommended I do not have cervical surgery before the laminectomy. The spine group at Sinai recommended cervical surgery first based on my MRI. I do not have cervical symptoms and Dr. Weiss (who is not member of the spine group) said that would be unneeded. She trained at Hopkins and her care for me, and my 93 yo dad, who had severe right pain is top notch surgically. She said that is L3 and she could fix that and did. Has thigh pain is gone. If accessing is a problem, Dr. Weiss's nurse practitioner Julie Kim is the one to reach out to for a quick response.

She should really work on her bedside manner and her skills are just as bad

Dr. Weiss may have impressive credentials but she turned my life into a painful misery. Once you leave the operating table that will be the last you will see of her.

I went to Dr. Weiss for a second opinion regarding my back surgery. She did not even examine me, I met with her in her office. I brought my MRI to her, and she agreed on the diagnosis, but would not give me any opnion to wether or not I should proceed with the surgery. I had the impression she was almost annoyed that I was coming to her for a second opnion.
