Dr. Noe Lira, MD

Dr. Lira is caring and kindhearted and sees you as a person. He listens and will patiently explain to you whatever it is you want to know. I have been to many gynecologists in my life but I have been permanently spoiled by Dr. Lira's fantastic caretaking abilities! I hope I never have to go to anyone else.

I started seeing Dr. Lira when I got pregnant with my second child. He has a horrible bedside manner. The first time he checked me I told him that with my first child I'd had an episiotomy and he creepily said "Yes, I saw that." On my first visit they checked for UTI and it was positive so he put me on antibiotics. They never re-tested me to make sure it was gone until a few visits later when I asked. I was re-tested and it was positive again. I had to take antibiotics for 6 months of my pregnancy. I kept asking for a urine analysis that would tell them exactly which bacteria it was and they just kept telling me to continue taking the antibiotics. The UTI wouldn't clear up so he gave me medicine for a yeast infection without even testing me for it. I did not take that medication as it was a category C. I refuse to take Category C drugs or any drugs for that matter for something that was never tested for. After that I switched doctors. I asked my new doctor to test me for… yeast infection and UTI...both were negative. Apparently, when doctors test for UTI in the office like Dr. Lira does, there is often a false positive in pregnant women. My new doctor always does the urine analysis. I was on all of that antibiotics for nothing. Speaking of peeing in a cup at Dr. Lira's office...they don't even have the proper sterile urine containers. they have Styrofoam Dixie cups. Another possible reason why my tests came out wrong. Also, the nurses do not take the urine cups out the cabinets fast enough. I would open it to put my cup in there and there would be a few in there already...unsealed. Sometimes there was no room for my cup o' pee so I would have to take it out of the restroom myself and hand to the first employee I saw. Here's the other thing. I was very weak and sick while under Dr. Lira's care. I had barely any appetite. No vomiting just a strong aversion to food in general. I sat in a chair all day and I could not take care of my other child. I had to take baths because I could not stand long enough to take a shower and my feeling overall was just horrible. This is not normal for me. I told Dr. Lira about it and asked if it could be that my iron was low since I had this issue with the first baby (and it is very common) and he said it was just normal pregnancy and that each pregnancy is worse that the last. When I switched to my new doctor, she found that my iron was very low. Once I started taking iron supplements, I felt better. Dr. Lira did check my iron level on my first visit and said it was fine, however, you must check the iron in the blood as well as the iron reserves in the bone marrow. My baby thankfully was delivered by a competent Doctor and is healthy. I think Dr. Lira is the absolute worst doctor I have ever had. He doesn't think outside the box when it comes to a pregnant woman's concerns. He has the machismo attitude that women have no idea what's going on inside their bodies. He acts like women's concerns are silly and he knows more about women even though he isn't one.

If this is your first pregnancy and you want to make it special, exciting, and memorable please do yourself a favor and do not go with this doctor. The office to me was not comforable and is in the smallest little plaza (an inconvience) would've been better if it was located in the hospital. The receptionist is rude and most of the staff. When I first went in it was nothing compared to what I was used to. I started with Dr. Casares (WHO IS AMAZING) however does not deliever and transferred to Lira. WORST MISTAKE EVER. My due date is constantly changing, receptionist is horrible about making appointments, blood work lady is rude. It is always something with the staff. Lira states I am 32-35 weeks and he isn't going to see me until another month, I would think I would already be going in every 1-2 weeks. I haven't gotten any of my final tests done and I feel like this baby is going to come before I find anything out. Trying to switch doctors at the moment because this OBGYN does not… deserve any of my money or time. So sad that my first preganancy was with this Dr. Please do yourself a favor and start looking else where. *should've listened to the comment below, when I read it the first time LOL*

Should choose a different profession!!! Worst Dr. EVER!!!! Cares nothing about patient, you are just a way for him to pay for his vacation/boat/whatever he spends his money on!!! Wouldn't allow him to help my dog deliver!!! Doesn't deserve 1 star, but couldn't post w/o a rating. Here's his rating......he SUCKS!!!!!!

Great doctor! Very comfortable and easy to talk to.
