Dr. Norman Earle Pickens, MD

Had a bad surgical experience with Dr Pickens that turned into multiple procedures having to be done. He wouldn’t listen to me and apparently didn’t believe what I was telling him. I’m pleased to see that he has done well for others.

DR. Pickens was the absolute best! I had surgery back years ago and he was the kindest man.

When meeting up with Dr. Pickens anywhere he has always recognized me and asks about my health. When meeting him in the hospital hallway several years ago he quickly asked if I was there for any treatment, which I wasn't, but had a friend in for treatment. Dr P asked what type and not long after, appeared in the room to give a hug. Not only is he a caring physician but is a compassionate and loving person.

Love this doc and his wonderful staff. Would recommend to anyone needing a Doctor!!

I'd give Dr. Pickens 10 stars if I could. He's so concerned about each patient. He was waiting for me to wake up after my surgery, patted my hand and told me everything was going to be alright. He brightens my day every time I see him. I'd recommend him to anyone in a heartbeat (and have).

Dr. Pickens is a truly wonderful physician and person. He takes the time to thoroughly discuss your problem, to assess your reactions, and to facilitate further evaluation, if necessary. His bedside manner is impeccable, demonstrating kindness, yet honest commentary regarding treatment options. His honesty, integrity, kindness and knowledge make you know you will receive the best care available.

I saw Dr. Pickens when I was 16 years old to have a cyst removed. He was an absolutely wonderful doctor. Great bedside manner, so caring and friendly, and amazing ability to put me at ease. He did a great job helping me through the nervousness and he was so readily available for follow-up, which is not a common trait with doctors. I most definitely do back to him if I needed to. Also, he was sure to leave a minimal scar!

Working in the medical profession, Sometimes you obtain an opinion on a physician before actually getting to know them. More so the opinion is formed by what you have been told by either a referring doctor or patients. I must say, one thing I do before even seeing the specialist is I personally do a record check to see first if they are board certified, what hospitals they have admitting priviledges with and weather they have had good reviews, mixed ones or just all around poor reviews. Dr. Pickens is assocated with NFRMC (North Florida Reginal Medical Center, board certified and nothing but the best reviews in my opinion. Let me just tell you Dr. Pickens is wonderful, fantastic bedside manners. A memory as sharp as a tack. A week ago last Tuesday my boyfriend was sent to see him about a surgical repair, working in the medical field again my understanding of medical terms comes by easly, yet he explained everything very basic and simple terms were it was not difficult for my boyfriend… to understand. He explained that this was something that needed to be taken care asap. As he was explaining this to him and myself, he assured us if we wanted a second opinion he would be more than happy to send us to another physician. Wow I was impressed already by my research I had already preformed. But not only that if we felt the opposite based on his review of the case at hand. We decided to go ahead and allow Dr.Pickens to preform the surgery that Friday. Honestly it was the best decission we could have made. Dr.Pickens explained the procedure in his office that Tuesday, again that Friday he came in and once again went over everything. He is a all around great doctor in my opinion. The same day that we were able to come home he called that evening to check and see how things where going and everyday through out the weekend and even all this week leading up to his post op appointment. Why because he is one of the rare physicians who are out there that actually care's about his patients. Name me five doctors that still do that. I certainly cannot. I truly would recommend him to anyone. Hands down five ***** stars in our book.

Earl Pickens is the sweetest man. Exceptional memory and awesome bedside manner. He comes in and talks to you before the surgery and after. He will bend over backwards to fill any request you have. He will give you a talk on fiber and bowl movements regardless to why you are there...LOL He is an exceptional surgeon.
