Very disappointed with the doctor and his unorganized and unprofessional staff

I cannot name another human (except my dad) that I have so much respect for. He and his wife and baby were living with her parents he was driving his dads old car. Pain meds don’t work on me. He had prescribed some. He said, to me, you are giving your meds to your daughter. I don’t remember telling him that, I had two daughters and an a granddaughter. He said don’t do that. How did he know? Simple blood test showed lack of the meds. He was correct, so, I no longer get pain meds. He does the shots. He knows my medical condition much better than my primary doctor. I get upset with him because he forgoes lunch while he works on reports. I’ve walked by while he was supposed to be having lunch. OK, he does have a protein bar. It breaks my heart to hear anyone say anything negative about Dr. Nouriel Niamehr. This man loves people and animals and they love him. Until reading these two nasty reviews, all I’ve ever heard from his patients is love. Even both my little Yorkies… love him. If anyone tries to harm this man’s repetition, I’ll be standing right by him, as will most of his patiences. Dr. Niamehr, thank you for being such a wonderful human and doctor. Just had an appointment with Dr. Niamehr. I've had extreme lower back pain for 10 years and all my other doctors did was give me pain meds. He was excellent. Very busy but still took the time and found out my problem. He was worth the wait. He will not give you medication you do not absolutely need but he will get your body working again. He gave me an epidural and I feel better already.

I have only written positive reviews. I must make an exception, however, as my experience with Dr. Nouriel Niamehr was profoundly disappointing and shockingly unprofessional. I tried not to give any stars, but this requires at least one. My Mom had an extraordinary pain manager (Dr. Mahras Akhavan in Sherman Oaks) from whom she received "facet joint injections" to manage extreme back pain over the past two years. They were successful and gave her relief for 6-8 months after each injection. Dr. Akhavan, unfortunately, left my Mom's designated medical group, so she was forced to find a new pain manager. Her insurance company recommended Dr. Niamehr. She went to Dr. Niamehr last week. He asked her where the pain was, she pointed to a few spots on her back, and after saying "this isn't as strong as what you used to get" he injected her several times. The doctor did not review her most recent MRI; he did not have her take an xray; he did not read her chart from the previous doctor to… learn what has been done in the past; he did not know that she has scoliosis and osteoporosis, in addition to the bulging discs that cause her back pain. HE MERELY ASKED WHERE THE PAIN WAS & INJECTED HER SEVERAL TIMES. This resulted in her being bedridden for over a week due to the unfathomable pain that these mystery injections caused her. Over a week ago, I left a message for Dr. Niamehr so that I could find out what he injected my Mom with and why he did not review her MRI and medical records prior to doing anything to her. After speaking with three office employees over the past week, Dr. Niamehr finally called me today. The conversation started off well, but then turned sour. He was getting angry with me for asking him what he injected my Mom with and why he didn't review any of her previous scans or medical records. He even admitted that he didn't know what she was previously injected with because he didn't have her records!! When I told him that his actions were careless and my Mom not ended up bedridden for over a week due to his actions, he kept interrupting me while accusing me of interrupting him. Then...HE HUNG UP ON ME! He's a doctor, a medical professional, and he hung up on me. I was flabbergasted. I called Dr. Niamehr's office back after he hung up on me, and he coincidentally just left for the day. I demanded a return phone call so that I could continue the conversation. I do plan to report him to the medical board that governs him, as his careless treatment of my Mom and his lack of professionalism on the phone with me warrants it. It will be my first complaint of this type, despite having hundreds of medical experiences with both of my aging parents. Dr. Niamehr is a disgrace to the medical field and epitomizes the phrase "practicing medicine" as he clearly is not an expert at it. I had called Dr. Akhavan, her previous pain manager, told him the situation, and he fully agreed that Dr. Niamehr was absolutely careless for treating a brand-new patient without having reviewed prior medical records. Dr. Akhavan agreed to see my Mom as a "cash patient" since he doesn't take her insurance, she saw him a few days ago, he gave her the correct facet joint injection that actually works, and it was $750 well spent. She is on the mend now. If you need a pain manager, please take my advice and avoid Dr. Niamehr. He will worsen your condition. Go see Dr. Akhavan -- he is an expert in his field, has a serious, but sweet bedside manner, and treats my Mom with respect and quality care. The ladies at the front desk are also extremely kindhearted. Remove review

I had a fantastic experience with him today. I have 2 torn discs with the gels out of place. I was adamant that I don't any drugs and he came up with some great suggestions. He has a great bedside manner and is very knowledgeable too.

I have seen Dr. Niamehr for several years following multiple spinal operations. I have weaned myself off almost all pain meds except for one. If there's no pain I wouldn't take it but on occasion I have to take pain meds, it feels like a blow torch to my spine, the whole world stops until the pain is under control. Dr. Niamehr is very careful with me and I appreciate his concern and care

Dr. N. Niamehr is very Unprofessional, and within 10 minutes Asked does your Care Provider Steal your medication? Do you and her share your medication? I said, excuse Me? No ! Why? She has a Masters Degree & I was a Realtor 17 yrs. I served in USMC disabled in a Powered Wheel Chair. He said and I quote "You are a Drug Addict, get out of here"! I never ever been treated in this manner. Iwas referred by my Pharmacist a patient of 10 yrs. a role model patient. I called & spoke to my Pharmacist and he could not believe it? I am a Minister at my Parish, and this was just" Pure Evil" he was not friendly or personable. Dr. Niamehr was trying to lead me into medications that I was unfamiliar and did not explain what these medications were and with that in mind I simply said I feel more comfortable with what I have been taking because it is effective and works. But No, Dr. Niamehr was adamant that I use these medications and when I tried to ask one question, that's when he closed my folder and… called me a Drug Addict as well as my Care Provider and walked out abandoning me. When I mentioned this to my Care Provider she was livid! This is how VETERANS get treated no respect that I almost lost my life a recipient of "The Purple Heart" so this youngster could go to Medical School. This is very disgraceful and I feel that I should call The Medical Board so he can be investigated and reprimanded. He was completely out of line! And the Manager, when I tried to voice my concerns and I simply received this response. We are closed now ! Really ! Wow ! Some of these Dr.s think they are God ! Am, I glad I don't have to go there again, RUN ! Dr. Nouriel Niamehr, if you were in my Company / Unit in The United States Marine Corps you would not have gotten away with what you did to me believe me buddy. You would have needed to be seen by a Dr.and to think you are Educated and a Graduate of UCLA? Huh! You have got alot to learn boy no manners at all provocative behavior. You need help ! You think you are above everyone else well I guess they did not teach you that how to have compassion for people who are suffering. Applied rotten brats who think we owe them something, go through what I under went 6 months bed bound almost lost my life, maybe then you will appreciate life more and treat people with dignity.

He really cares. Spends time explaining everything and is respectful of the patient needs. I drive over an hour to see him. He really makes me feel at ease with what I am going through.

Puts my faith back in doctors. Spent time with me and was very clear in explaining my pain issue. Very good with injections. The best pain dr I've seen. He is very busy but definitely worth the wait.

Great doctor and a caring human.
