Dr. Pamela Mary Mccurdy, MD

Dr M helped my son tremendously and worked with him for about a year.She was thoughtful, responsive to our needs and concerns, and knowledgeable.Her knowledge of adolescent issues and how to deal with troubled teens was very instructive.I've seen great improvement in my son's social functioning, cognitive and coping skills.I appreciated that she was cautious and conservative about prescribing medication, and the meds she did prescribe made a significant differencein my daughter's ability to recover.

Dr. McCurdy has been a stabilizing force in my life for the past four years. She is an exceptional psychiatrist and I highly recommend her.

Dr. McCurdy spent a year with my high school senior and misdiagnosed teen depression and anxiety as Bipolar Disorder. She prescribed a daily cocktail of 6-8 different bipolar medications with side effects that sabotaged senior year. When parents and patient repeatedly BEGGED this doctor to reduce the meds, she flatly refused and challenged parents to go get a second opinion, which was immediately done. In second, third, fourth and fifth opinions, McCurdy's misdiagnoses and poor pharmacology were readily identified by 2 prominent adolescent psychiatrists and 2 psychologists, one of whom went on to provide another year of treatment in order to taper off all of the prescriptions written by Dr. McCurdy. Not one of the MDs could find a rational explanation for the diagnosis and choice of medications prescribed by Dr. McCurdy. Worst of all is the emotional trauma that our teen-ager suffered in this experience.
