This woman is condescending, rude, and does not respect or listen to her patients. She also is rough and physically hurt me. Do not go to this doctor if you care about your body.

Horrific visit with this lady. I was bleeding so bad and she told me it was normal for a young woman to experience this... I went for a second opinion; told I had 2 uterine Fibroids had to be removed ASAP. Huge miss on her part. Also, she was reported to the OB/GYN Board by my Dr who did the surgery. BEWARE if you see her. I'm a young, super healthy patient, she was was demeaning to me... Go figure. She might lose her license... So many better drs out there. DO NOT RECOMMEND her at all!

I originally saw another woman, Sivan, from this practice and she was wonderful but when she moved practices I was given to Patty Brines. I had come in due to feeling some vaginal pain that I was ongoing for a few months. I had just seen Sivan three weeks ago with a diagnosis that I felt was incorrect (yeast infection) because I still felt pain and wanted to see what my other options were. I had been STD tested three weeks prior and came back clean. Patty came into do the exam and immediately tried to place the metal speculum within me but it was too painful (the appointment I had three weeks ago I had too much pain for this to be done) and I asked her not to and to stop. She continued anyways much to my discomfort and was quite forceful. She then asked if I had been STD tested as she would like to STD test me, I explained that I had been tested three weeks ago and came back fine and I do not wish to be tested again. She told me that I need to be tested, I said no thank you as I was… already tested and not sexually active so it was not necessary as I already came back clean so the results would not differ and would not help my pain. She then stuck a swab in me and tested me anyways saying that I shouldn’t have felt pain even though I did. I never consented to that test or the speculum. I asked her to stop continuously. Patty then removed the speculum quite forcefully again and asked me to get dressed and meet her in her office. In her office she told me she looked through my blood tests and found a chart from an ER trip I had months prior (went in for stomach pain, found nothing they believed it to be constipation that ran its course) and claimed that that blood test revealed I had type two diabetes and she already placed it in my medical charts for me. I do not have type two diabetes but have been on the edge for a while and working with a doctor to correct it. I still do not have type two diabetes but constantly have to go through this diagnosis with other doctors and it takes them a long time to believe I am credible due to this. She then told me that if I wanted to have children I shouldn’t as my parents should never of had me because they have a history of diabetes and obesity which causes faulty breeding. She immediately then says to me “Dads a big guy huh?” I stopped her there and asked her about my pain and what we could do about it and she told me that it wasn’t important. That was the whole point of my visit. It broke my heart for her to talk about my parents like that because they are my heroes. I don’t recommend her. She is a terrible doctor and I do not know how she is still in practice. I recommend people to search her and look at other reviews because they are just as awful.

I’ve been going to Dr Brines for a number of years, she’s always able to stay abreast ;) of what else is going on in my life, makes the procedures comfortable and painless. I’ve had a few minor problems over the years that she’s easily fixed but something new came up this year that was serious and her compassion and follow-through made it manageable for me.

I went to this doctor for my first Pap Smear. Spent more time waiting for her (30 minutes) than she spent with me (not even 5 minutes). Not only that, but she was blatantly ignored my concerns. Not to mention the aides and front desk staff are rude and unfriendly. Will not return to her, or any doctor in this practice!

Very professional and courteous. Excellent bedside manner. Really takes the time to listen and is genuinely concerned..

I have plenty of friends and acquaintances who have gone to see her. They say she is rough during exams, rude and dismissive. I am so glad that I have chosen Dr. Kayla Dohr on New haven ace as my Gyno. She is great! Dohr listens, is attentive, doesn't pry, shows genuine concern, and instantly puts patients at ease during exam. Brines on the other hand is a nightmare. The devil herself. My friend said she lectures patients about the BMI and is super judges. I think everyone should ditch Brines and go see Dohr!!!

I went into this office because I had gotten a cat scan in which an ovarian cyst was found. I wanted to make sure everything was okay. After being weighed and questioned by the nurse, I went into Dr. Brines' office to speak with her and she clearly had not read any of my paperwork. She thought I was there for something completely different. After I told her I was there for the cyst, she went in on my weight. She basically told me that I wouldn't make it in the industry I want to work in because of my weight and appearance and said that I should "get it together", also insinuating that I ate a great deal of food constantly, which I do not. Altogether, I felt completely belittled by this doctor and will never return.

I had gone to this practice for a number of years and never really felt good about it. I had gone to DR. Brines for awhile but always felt like she rushed me out of the room. It seems like no one is really good at following up. I always feel like I have to have to be paying super attention to what is going on....I recently went in because I was having what I thought was a yeast infection...when the women brought me back to the exam room she asked me if I needed to use the bathroom first...I was thinking well....if I am wrong and it's not a yeast infection....you may need a urin sample so why would I go to the bathroom now...This is what I mean...You have to be thinking for them...which really isn't the patients job! Just find another practice!

I have been a patient of Dr. Brines for nearly 10 years. I switched to her after 2 years of seeing different doctors at 2 different practices for a problem that remained unresolved. She diagnosed and treated it, simply and non-invasively, during our first visit. She is interested in identifying causes and not only in treating symptoms. That is why she is so focused on lifestyle and preventive care (including weight). She is definitely no-nonsense, but that is not the same as being uncaring. When a doctor focuses on my health needs and recommends an appropriate course of treatment, I consider that caring. The practice is busy and, of course, they have a lot of emergency cases--that is the nature of obstetrics and gynecology. So there have been times when I have had to sit in the waiting room for quite a while for a regularly scheduled appointment. But there have also been times when I have had an emergency and they have worked me in that very day (which I know meant others had… to wait). So be it. The follow up can be a bit confusing--maybe because they work across multiple offices?--and I do have to stay on top of that myself.
