Dr. Patricia Marie Callahan, MD

I took my son in for slamming the bedroom door on his finger to have an x-ray done. Dr Callahan told me if he needed to have a tetanus oxoid shot, I'd have to go to the ER as they don't do them there. Great, no problem at all. The Xray confirmed a hairline fracture that I was told nothing could be done about. I was told by Dr Callahan that he did not meet the criteria for a tetanus shot. No problem. I didn't think he needed one anyway. She then tried to push the Tdap vaccine, which I denied. She was very condescending and unprofessional. I asked for just the tetanus vaccine without the other two and she said that wasn't an option. I concluded on my own that if his injury didn't call for a tetanus shot that it also wasn't necessary at this time for the tdap vaccine. She decided that since I would not get this vaccine that she was not going to clean, bandage, or care for the wound in any way and sent us out the door. She never mentioned any use of antibiotics. Here's where I get real… upset. I looked at the chart notes in the after visit summary and she proceeds to repeatedly (4 times) state that I "adamantly refused treatment and vaccine". I did not refuse treatment, I did not refuse the tetanus shot nor the tetanus vaccine, I refused the pertussis and diphtheria at this particularly time as it didn't pertain to the injury. Her chart notes were inaccurate and obvious that she had a personal vendetta against me. These notes follow my son for life and depict me as a neglectful mother. I also saw in the chart notes that she prescribed an antibiotic. Never was that mentioned or discussed during the appointment. She decided she was done with me once I didn't do what she wanted me to do. Absolutely terrible doctor and unprofessional. I will never go back. This right here is why we can't trust doctors or their care!

Dr. Callahan adopted a know-it-all approach when we brought our baby in to see her. She would not even let me finish my sentences before interjecting her opinions. I was so frustrated, I just gave up trying to get her to listen and we switched doctors.

Dr Callahan betrayed my 18 year old son's trust giving him a shot that he and I did not want. I will NEVER bring either of my kids back here!
