Dr. Patricia Gwin Rice, PhD

What can I say? She helped me at an acutely stressful period in my life. It took a while to develop a rapport, but I appreciated that. There's no pretense about her -- compassionate, honest, knowledgeable.

I saw Dr. Rice just once at her Rutgers office because she was the only counselor available and I needed immediate help. I was scheduled a one hour session, and she rushed me out the door after 35 minutes when there was still PLENTY left to discuss. She was snippy with me at least three times during our meeting and seems to have very little compassion whatsoever. She did not care about my personal situation and did not even want to call me back. When I was finally able to ellicit a response, she was very unpleasant and acted as if I was bothering her. She gets paid to do her job and help the Rutgers community and she wouldn't even pretend she cared or had compassion for my situation. I left feeling worse than before and I highly doubt she will ever call me back to set up an another appointment. If you are a seneitive female who has struggled with deciding whether or not to seek help, look elsewhere. It took me years to come to terms with the fact that I seriously needed therapy because… of my many trust issues, and I am seriously so disheartened. I will be very hesitant to contact another therapist in the future.
