Dr. Patrick J. Cavanaugh, MD

Was seeking a new PCP & most female internist are booked far out in advance. I found Dr. Cavanaugh & had the ease of making an appointment online. When I came in for my visit I used the check-in kiosk, was called in within 7 minutes. I waited a little once in the room but the doctor was very nice, friendly, and informative. I will definitely keep him as a PCP!

He is my new PC for just a year. He diagnosed my Type II diabetes which I was unaware of, he correctly diagnosed an incorrectly described breast lump and diagnosed my syncope following an ER visit. He is kind, pleasant, caring, listens and gives you the time you need. However his front staff is overburdened and understaffed which may give you the wrong impression. They need more people to cover their incoming calls.

As I write this I have been on hold to try and make an appointment on two different phone lines for over an hour. New office is a nightmare I have even seen a difference in Dr. Cavanaugh's personality, does not seem happy. Staff is beyond horrible, no one seems to be happy working there and it shows!

This review is more for Dr. Cavanaugh's new office than the doctor himself. Dr. Cavanaugh has been my doctor for quiet a few years and he has alway been caring, friendly and attentive. Unfornately this new office NYU Langone Medical Center he is now part of is a NIGHTMARE from the parking lot to the check-in to everything in between. My wait was 2 1/2 hours, the front desk is annoyed with you from the moment you step up to the counter. Everyone, including the doctors seems stressed and miserable. If Dr. Cavanaugh goes back into private practice I would most certainly see him. Unfortunately, I will be looking into a new doctor just to get out of that office.

After several unpleasant experiences and misdiagnosis with another doctor, a friend recommended Dr. Cavanaugh. My first visit was excellent. From the moment I entered his office, the staff made me feel welcome and comfortable. My waiting time was minimal. By the time I flipped through a magazine, I was called to an examination room. Soon after, Dr. Cavanaugh arrived with a smile and discussed my medical records and carefully listened to my concerns. He made me feel like I was his only patient. I never experienced a doctor with such a warm and friendly bedside manner. I was also amazed at his diagnostic ability. After a complete physical, tests and examination, I was lead to his office for a follow-up conference. The results of my visit were carefully discussed and all my questions answered. Wow! Never had such an experience with any other doctors. Dr. Cavanaugh definitely rates ***** stars in my book!

Phone always busy, office doesn't give Doctor information and he doesn't call back when you have a question

When you're tired of getting the runaround, this man will give you answers and results. I switched to Dr Cavanaugh after my former PC physician called my heart attack indigestion.

He has excellent patient skills.

No follow up, no courtesy, who are these people who work for Dr. C? Dr. Cavanausgh is a kind man and I believe he knows his stuff, but dealing with his office is an ordeal. They open late, leave early and close for the lunch hour. Wish I worked there.

Dr. Cavanaugh is a caring and compassionate physician. Unfortunately, the current state of medicine does not allow him to spend as much time as he would like with each patient. At times, the appointment feels rushed but I never feel that anything has been overlooked. Getting test results can also be a little difficult at times but again, I do not fault the doctor or his staff.Overall, I would highly recommend Dr. Cavanaugh.
