Dr. Patrick Shengmeau Chang, MD

Dr. Patrick Chang is an outstanding physician who had took care of me for nearly 25 years and he saved my life many times. He is the only one I trust and I followed him when he retired from his private practice and moved his practice to VHA in Gilbert Arizona to serve our Veterans. I am so grateful for his service to our country by taking care of me and Veterans like me. He listens to me and genuinely cared about my health and well being. He is a beautiful human being and I told him, he cannot retire from medicine until I died because no one understands me like Dr. Chang does. I had PTSD from Vietnam war and I still sees dead people and Dr. Chang is the first person I am able to talk about this. He was so kind to me and I am able to talk about this and he got me better because of him, the ghosts of Vietnam. I am so grateful for his help.

As a patient of Dr. Patrick Chang for over 20 years now, I can testify that he is not only someone who will take care of your healthcare needs, but also someone who takes the time to get to know you personally. Previous reviews (some of which are from jealous competitor physicians) have tried to slander Dr. Chang's name and reputation online. It's crazy to me that people will go to such petty lengths out of sheer bitterness. Particularly in reference to the review about Dr. Chang's academic achievements - he graduated at the top of his class at the University of Chicago for his PhD, was accepted into and finished a 2-year Masters of Science program at Dartmouth, and scored well above a 21 on the MCAT (it's not my place to disclose the exact score, as we discussed this topic in regards to my son taking the MCAT as well). Additionally, his practice on Dobson Road was NOT shut down by anyone whatsoever; it was voluntarily sold by Dr. Chang and bought by another doctor who caused a lot of… trouble afterwards. This sort of defamation without solid proof or reasonable attribution is ridiculous and once you get to know Dr. Chang yourself, you'll be able to see through these false, negative reviews. Dr. Chang is someone who chose to become a doctor by profession because he truly loves helping people in need, and would NEVER take advantage of his patients for monetary or personal gain. "Increasing opioids to patients who are addicted" is the LAST thing someone like Dr. Chang would do, and when his wife worked at his practice, she did not "sit at home and watch the cameras all day to see who is coming in and out of the office"... she was the manager and helped with countless duties, took care of their kids at home, etc. and as someone who has the same security cameras in my business office, the footage wasn't even available to view until it gets downloaded every 24 hours, so this is 100% a false claim. Being said, Dr. Chang is logical, hardworking, honest, intelligent, and the most reliable doctor I've come across in the past two decades that I've known him, and I will not tolerate any sort of slander against his work as an experienced practitioner. I will continue to refer all of my friends and family to him for the rest of his career.

I know physicians who were on admissions committee when Dr Chang went to medical school. I am told his MCAT score was 21. (That's the old system and it is the bottom 5%). According to insiders, Chang was admitted with horrible scores because he is Chinese (affirmative action). It then took him six years to graduate from a four year program. His practice on Dobson road was shut down by the DEA and his patients were transferred to Dignity Health. Now, Chang is a senior manager overseeing hundreds of primary care doctors in the VA. He has coerced many doctors to write opioids for patients without any medical indication and to increase opioids to patients who are addicted. The Phoenix VA has had several veteran overdose deaths, likely attributed to Dr Chang. Stay away from this guy if you value your life.

HAVE SEEN HIM FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS STARTED OFF GREAT THE LAST YEAR HE HAS SHONE NO INTEREST, THERE WAS A GREAT PA BUT SHE LEFT. NEXT PA LASTED 1 MONTH. DR. CHANG IS NASTY, ARROGANT WHEN CHALLENGED. WANTS TO DO TO MANY TESTS. STAFF IS EVER CHANGING AND UNFRIENDLY. SEEMS IF HE GET A GOOD PERSON THEY LEAVE . THIS IS NOT THE DOCTOR OF YOU HAVE MORE THAN A SORE THROAT OR COLD.

0 reviews 10/16/2017 I have been a patient of Dr Chang since moving to the valley. He takes fantastic care of me and my entire family. I respect his judgement. He has saved me from unnecessary procedures that other doctors have tried to order for me when a change in medication was all that was needed after he reviewed my chart. I never wait in the lobby or in the room very long at all. All the MAs and students he supports are friendly. I have an Medicare Advantage plan and he and his office manager help me to find the right specialist for my needs. I am very happy with the entire office.

Difficult to work with or talk to. Very frequent visits. No discussion on test results. Staff has very high turn over. Was seeing his PA, but she left. I'm thinking about same.

Seriously, do not trust this guy. He gave the worst medicine and advice . Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

It is all about the money. Huge staff turnover. If it is important? Don't go to Dr Chang.

Highly Recomend! If you don't want a preventive Doctotor he is not for you. If you care about your health he is the best
