Dr. Patrick James Lavin, MD

I needed to get my headaches treated and was in extreme pain for many months. Now I wish I had read some of the reviews from others who had a bad experience with this man. In my life I Hope I never am in an office with such a non professional, non caring human. After I went I discovered from a Dr friend that a woman had actually run out of his office with her slip on since he was so negative. He was more than negative with me when i was describing my pain. It was the worst energy from any Dr I could imagine. I did write up a huge complaint to the head of where he works and have heard nothing from them yet. How has he managed to escape punishment from his actions to his patients I don't understand. If I had ever acted this way while teaching students I would have been fired immediately or sooner!! I barely touched his wrist as I sat next to him at his chair. He said don't you ever put your hands on me again. I nearly fainted when he said that! That is just one thing he said and hard to… believe he acted this way! I have another Dr now and love love this one and have relief now. I have told all I can tell about him so hopes this helps someone!

I had a very bad experience with another doctor prior to finding Dr. Lavin. He found the problem right away and was incredibly kind and informative. I could not possibly have had a better experience and am both grateful and satisfied with the degree of professionalism and kindness shown me.

It is over a year later and I can still see out of my left eye. Dr. Lavin and Dr. Pawate both have worked together to make sure I maintain my sight. If it was not for these two excellent physicians, I would be blind. Both Dr. Lavin and Dr. Pawate were there when I had questions and would see me on very short notice if I had a problem. Thank goodness for great physicians.

Worth the wait

Dr. Lavin is my savior. Ii know that I would be blind today if it was not for his care. He took time to listen to my story and acted swiftly. I am blind in my right eye and when my left eye started losing sight, I asked my doctor to refer me and I did get to Dr. Lavin. He was very patient in taking my history and admitted me to the hospital and within 2 days, I was able to see again. I will stay with him. I know that this may not be a permanent fix or it may be, but I trust his judgment and knowledge. If I would have known about Dr. Lavin a year erlier, I may not have lost the sight in my right eye. I have been seeing Dr. lavin for two years. He has walked me through chronic migraines & several failed treatments with patience & compassion. He never gave up on finding what would work for me. I had terrible side effects from Topamax - it put me in metabolic acidosis & I don't respond to triptans. I have waited from 5 minutes to 2 hours, but when I did see him, I had his undivided attention, & he apologized. I am now receiving Botox injections with good results. I highly recommend him. I truly don't understand the negative reviews, but as a nurse I also know that there are some that unfortunately, one cannot please!

I think Dr. Lavin is an excellent doctor. I have seen 4 doctors at Vanderbilt, thus far, and have an appointment with another specialist. The hospital is an excellent hospital and the doctors are very busy. I have found as long as I am getting better that I don't care if the doctor is in a hurry, I have a brain tumor and my Endocrinologist at Vanderbilt referred me to Dr. Lavin, it took months to get in to see him even with her referral so I assume he is very good and busy. My migraines were almost unbearable and all day and night everyday. Dr. Lavin did an occipital nerve block to relieve my pain and called me personally the next day to see how I was feeling and to see if the nerve block had given me relief. I am thankful to have a doctor like Dr. Lavin working with me. I had almost given up hope before seeing him.

He saved my vision! He found my problem and had to me to surgery right away! After my 3rd surgery I am doing better everyday and can see thanks to him!

This Dr is not caring and made me want to run out of his office. I have never nor since been to such an insensitive Dr and know he needs to quit seeing patients!!! I changed doctors after this visit and just want others to know there is something very wrong with this man.

He is the best doctor ever. He listens to me, and he is never in a rush to get me out the door. He is caring and is really knowledgeable. I recommond him to everyone. I drive 6 hours to see him because he is worth it.
