Dr. Mattern was great very friendly and was detailed in helping with my knee.

Dr. Mattern is very friendly, very knowledgeable, and gives good thorough explanations. He takes a lot of time with his patients and their office at St Mary’s is clean and everyone in the office is very friendly and helpful. It’s also easy to get an appointment and waiting times are never more than five minutes. Would definitely recommend him!

Dr. Mattern was very kind and thorough as he reviewed the information about my fractured pelvis. This was the first time I saw him or any orthopedic doctor since the fall that caused the fracture on 2/13, Dr. Mattern showed me the xray, answered questions about the left side of my pelvis which was not fractured but obviously injured during the fall, and recommended continuing the prescribed pain meds because while the fractured right side was feeling better, the left side was very painful. He also recommended continuing with PT. We scheduled a follow up for early May when hopefully the fractured side will be healed and the left side pain will have dissipated.

I want to explain, prior to going to Dr. Mattern, I went to another surgeon out of St. Mary’s. The room was dirty, I had to ask the young lady to clean up the leftover bandages on the table, she did. I then had to ask her if she would plz sanitize it. She did after I asked. The surgeon came in, she did not look remotely professional. Extremely dirty long hair, dirty fingers, old dirty sneakers. I had never experienced a professional to ever look this way. We talked, she explained her thoughts, then proceeded to wrap my arm. This long roll of cotton she was putting on the bottom of my arm, was so long, part of it landed on the floor. I’m thinking to myself. What am I doing here? She proceeded to put it on my arm, I didn’t say a word. I just knew I was never coming back. I don’t need to mention her name, but I will tell you St. Mary’s called me because I wrote a bad review. I returned the call and told them to call me whenever they got a chance they must be so busy because nobody… ever called again. My husband. Did some research and found Dr. Mattern. So we’ve ventured out to see Dr. Mattern at St. Mary’s.. his office staff is extremely friendly, we waited in the clean room, Dr. Mattern came in , introduced himself and shook our hand. He told me I would have a lot more range of motion if I did the surgery.. at this point you’re vulnerable you’re emotional and you’re like a crazed person, I chose to trust him. The good news is he does his surgeries out of Doylestown, which is now Penn.. on the day of the surgery, these two older people checked me in they were lovely, and walked me back to my room where I could change in there I waited. Along with the anesthesiologist, Dr. Mattern came in and spoke to me about everything that he was planning to do. Very professional, very calm, and told me if I had any questions I could certainly ask. I wasn’t worried going into surgery, probably because I felt the person doing the job was extremely confident and kind. I couldn’t have asked for a better Surgeon, I went back to see him the other day after six weeks of from Surgery, once again his office staff is extremely friendly, and once again he came in he shook my hand very professional sat with me. I don’t know 15-20 minutes or more. He told me I would need to come back in six weeks to do another x-ray to make sure it was fully healed and the one that I really wanted to mention, is that I asked him if he could do my surgery before Christmas he squeeze me in on December 23, I was grateful, and in shock that somebody would do something so kind! So my experience with Dr. Matternis better than a five star! Doylestown/Penn was an amazing experience. It turned something so wrong into something so right!

Dr mattern is a wonderful physician. He has a kind manner that is protected from the moment he walks in the door and shakes your hand. He explained each action and has a gentle touch with a needle ha ha. He really made me feel comfortable with each step. His knowledge and advice I value for my own health and continued care. He is available for appointments at the local office without long wait times. He also answers any questions I may have through the portal instantly. I’m very happy that I decided to go to his office and I will be continuing to see him with any upcoming issues. The office staff is friendly and efficient. No better choice for me.

Dr. Mattern was great. He spent time with me, answered my questions and then pulled fluid out of my knee and injected it with a steroid. He did so with precision and I appreciated that. He will likely help me manage this arthritis for a long time. Feels better today!

I’ve seen Dr. Mattern for both a knee injury and now an ankle injury. At all of my visits he has been professional, compassionate, kind and has never made me feel rushed or that he is in a hurry. He has a great bedside manner, and I recommend him to anyone. Side note, my knee injury is severe and will require an extensive surgery. I wanted a second opinion and went to Rothman. I was very unimpressed with their care and will be sticking with Dr. Mattern.

Dr. Mattern is an outstanding orthopedic surgeon. He performed my left hip replacement with exceptional skill and care. My recovery has been positive, and I'm grateful for his expertise and compassionate approach. Highly recommend!

Dr. Mattern was very comprehensive, kind and patient in my shoulder evaluation. I greatly appreciated the fact that he did not want to rush into surgery for my problem.
