Dr. Patrick Ellison Sewell, MD

Dr. Sewell is well educated, intelligent, compassionate, and is dedicated to working with his patients to improve their well being and educating them on how to live a better life. Dr. Sewell has worked with me to manage my medications which are required due to bi-polar disorder. He has also taught me how to better respond to certain life/family circumstances, to improve my skills and climb the learning curve necessary to make progress and enjoy life.

Dr. Sewell is extremely intelligent when it comes to properly diagnosing patients and truly does care about the treatment plan he places you on. He spends a lot of time speaking with me, he gives great suggestions on how to cope and decrease the triggers that either causes my mania or my depression associated with Bipolar Depression, severe anxiety, panic problems, insomnia, along with a few other diagnoses. He placed me on medication which has minimum side effects for me personally and my mind and mood has been stable. If he needs to switch medications for better results, he will discuss in detail what medication he believes will have a better result and discuss other options if you request one other than his suggestion and is compassionate and understanding. I have been his patient for nearly a year and see him often. If I have problems, I call the office and when I was experiencing severe issues, he personally called me back to check on me and get an update. His receptionist is… kind, professional, and compassionate as well. It’s easy to get a schedule and in the past, I have had to make emergency appointments and they I was able to be seen quickly without hesitation. He will also discuss natural ways that can assist in curing, or rather helping assist in your diagnosis and his suggestions are based on hardcore research and are generally published in well known top notch psychological articles. He stays up to date on treatments and this impresses me so much. This truly shows that he cares about his patients and is current with new treatments and whatnot. I have had a handful of psychiatrist in the past over my life of 36 years and I will have to say he is the BEST ONE I HAVE EVER USED! I am blessed to have been referred to him by my previous PCP and truly appreciate all he has done for me and my mental health. He is rated in my opinion 5/5 stars and I would rate him 10/5 stars if possible- he has benefited me a ton and I’m truly appreciative.

Requires you write an autobiography pre first visit. This enables him to tap right into the issues you are having on your first visit. He is professional and compassionate. Only downfall is that appointments are so backed up b c he is in high demand.

While at one time was an excellent physician now services are lacking. Will not return phone calls or follow through. Advertises new techniques to conquer depression but treats his existing patients like they don’t matter. Only wants to treat a certain type of patient. For a doctor who treats depression he’s very insensitive.

Professional, knowledgeable, easy to speak with which is beneficial due to my health matters. He expresses care, compassion, and most importantly the desire to treat parents successfully and with hopes for patient to have a better life experience. He is the most intelligent psychiatrist I have had handling my mental health. I have seen over a handful and he is the best by all means! Short wait time, office staff is professional and caring; I’m literally blessed to have been referred to him by my PCP. If you need or require mental health treatment, I would highly refer this medical doctor.

Dr. Sewell diagnosed me with ADHD and PTSD, and this diagnosis changed my life. After speaking with me for 30 minutes or so he was able to identify the unique issues that plagued me for years and years. I cannot say enough positive things about him and his gift of deciphering the data that led to my diagnosis. He's friendly, helpful, and genuinely cares about his patients.

I was under Dr. Sewells care for over twenty years. Other local psychiatrist failed at my diagnosis. He in a matter of a weekend while hospitalized in 1986 at the age of 26 diagnosis Bipolar II. Proper medication lead to years of remission of disorder. Can not say enough of his compassionate approach and caring for his patients.
