Dr. Patrick R. Teefey, MD

I came to Dr Teefy after a long search and no help from my regular GYN about my fibroids. He was very thorough, and quick to come up with a game plan. Surgery was painless and had a fast bounce back. I am extremely happy and confident with his skills.

I came to see Dr Teefey on second opinion due to non stop bleeding, my healing started from the moment I visited him. He took his time to study my medical results and offered his medical advice. When it was obvious I needed hysterectomy done he wasted no time in getting me scheduled for the surgery. The surgery was successful,I returned to work within 2 weeks and wore my white pant within 4 weeks of having hysterectomy done......yay!!. The fact he got me scheduled for the surgery right away was a total care for me. I referred my two sisters to him because I can’t stop telling them how caring and knowledgeable he is..... I thank God for bringing Dr Teefey my way, you are Godsent . Thanks for your total and professional care.

One of the best providers I’ve seen. Very personable, was able to fit me in for a procedure within 2 weeks of consultation He provides great care and never seemed rushed at the appointment.

Excellent Dr. Very caring and thorough he did my hysterectomy bc my uterus was enlarged due to fibroids he also removed my tubes n cervic My recovery time was short and painless. He called to make sure i was doing fine plus to give me my pathology result which was good. Dr Teefy is simply the best

Dr. Teefey has a great bedside manner and is a very skilled surgeon. He was thorough in letting me know what to expect prior to my hysterectomy due to irregular bleeding from fibroids, endometriosis, and adenomyosis. I had a very speedy and uneventful recovery with personal calls from Dr. Teefey to check on me post surgery and share pathology results. I am pleased that I found Dr Teefey and did not have to experience the longer recovery of an open surgery.

Dr. Teefey was able to calm my fears of surgery. He took the time to really explain every detail of the process and answered every question I had with thought. I never felt rushed or that I was taking up to much time. I am thrilled to say that my surgery was a complete success. I owe Dr. Teefey my complete gratitude. Thanks to him I am looking forward to a bright 2018.

I am so happy that I was referred to Dr. Teefey by another Doctor who esteems him highly. I had multiple uterine fibroids and went to see Dr. Teefey regarding my options. Very easy to talk to Him

This is the best doctor I've had in my adult life. He's easy to talk to, courteous, compassionate in his speciality, great bedside manners, and most importantly attentive and caring. I have finally found an OBGYN MD that I feel comfortable with and will be my only one.

Short Version: There's a 2 sentence review of Dr. Teefey on this site with which I disagree wholeheartedly. The only reason I'm hoping never to see Dr. Teefey again is that if I were to consult him again it would mean I were dealing with a formidable health concern. I am known for having questions forever and always, and somehow he's managed to answer at least 98% of them while I'm at his office. (The remaining 2% were resolved over the phone.) Because I saw Dr. Teefey, I am less one decidedly unwelcome fibroid. I was able to return to work after just over 2 weeks, and less than 4 weeks post-op, all restrictions were lifted. (It helped that I followed my discharge instructions faithfully... Which was an obnoxious but effective strategy.) In summary: I rank Dr. Teefey right up there with surgical glue! Due to an adhesive allergy, I'm unable to confirm other reviewers' reports of heart-shaped bandages, but I'd find a morale-boosting gesture of that sort unsurprising. If… you're like me, and like to see cool color photos of your own medical stuff, consider asking for one in advance of your procedure! I found that my mid-procedure image was helpful to my healing process because I finally had a visual on what had been plaguing me... but trust your own judgement as far as your likely response. Extended version: I met Dr. Teefey for the first time with close to no time to spare; the fibroid was rapidly becoming utterly insufferable... so I chose Dr. Teefey out of a hat (pretty much) by saying "who at Jefferson can see me soonest?" When Dr. Teefey walked in for my first visit, he had a bowtie on. I took it as a sign... my family members tend to favor bowties. Because I've had so many doctors lately, my family's been struggling to keep up with all of the names, and thus I began referring to Dr. Teefey as "Captain Bowtie" so they wouldn't have to work quite so hard at it. I was there for a second opinion, as the title of my review indicates. I had known about the fibroid for over 2.5 years... It had grown quite a bit between ultrasounds, which were done through my local hospital network (not in Philadelphia!) and was no longer remotely possible to ignore. The opinion I wanted Dr. Teefey to contradict was that I needed a hysterectomy at the (pre-parental!) age of 28. My local choices from not-Teefey were: 1. Hysterectomy, or 2. Wait as long as I could stand and probably end up getting a hysterectomy... Symptom management was not possible. My ultrasounds and the associated reports were coming from my local hospital network and had not arrived in time for my initial appointment with Dr. Teefey. Dr. Teefey was able to approximate the size of my fibroid via palpation. That was not fun, but definitely saved some time. The decision was made to schedule me for laparoscopic surgery 4 weeks later to take out the offending mass. (I would've made it sooner, but for the paperwork...) Hearing that the surgery was meant to remove the fibroid, the whole fibroid and nothing but the fibroid was a major relief, although it was made clear to me that depending on possible complications, Dr. Teefey reserved the right to change over to a hysterectomy if that became necessary to save my life. (It was not, so I've still got my uterus.) About 2 weeks later, I brought the ultrasounds on a disk, and we reviewed them with the radiology reports at my pre-op. A week and a half later: Fibroid Eviction Day, at last! I'd asked to be given a mid-procedure photo so that I could finally visualize what had been going on in there. It did not disappoint. My "cool color photo" documented some rather impressive revisions of my body's interior decorating. I don't know whether the providers look at these, but Captain Bowtie, if you're out there... you've definitely saved the day, and then some. Your mild-mannered alter-ego was a big help, too.
