This doctor completely destroyed my family’s life when I was a young child. My father went in for surgery, and Dr. Arnold nicked his spinal cord in a way that left him permanently disabled for the rest of his life. He did not help my father recover. Instead, he prescribed countless medications, and my father ultimately lost his life. Do not go to this physician.

My husband had surgery with another doctor. Problems arose and dr failed to review case. Thought it was all in my husbands mind. Sent films to dr Arnold. Advised surgery for next day. Eight hour repair surgery. Performed 2 more surgeries over the next 5 years. Yes his personality is dry. However, do you want great surgery or tea time? Would recommend him any day!!

When an MRI revealed a large tumor on my spinal cord membrane in the C1-C2 area, Dr. Arnold was recommended by another neurosurgeon — he was the only one in the region qualified. I have seen comments about his lack of compassion and bedside manner and I disagree completely. He was not chatty at first but answered all of my questions. He was very blunt that the tumor had to be removed and the surgery could be dangerous. He also told us he might not be able to get it all, in the close confines of the C2 and C1 vertebrae. He did, in fact, get all of it and his immediate post-surgery care was indeed compassionate. What Doctor Arnold might lack in outgoing personality is compensated for by a very friendly and helpful staff. If you want a chatty friend, try a local tavern. I needed a brilliant surgeon to extend my life and Dr. Arnold was that man. Thank You!

I was referred to Dr. Arnold by my PMD after MRI results of herniated, bulging discs in my lower back. I had to wait three months to get in for an evaluation and when I finally arrived I was met by Dr. Arnold all of about ten minutes. He came in and immediately told me he viewed my images and there is nothing he could do for me. After dealing with the pain for quite a while now and finally getting answers there was actually something wrong, I was completely disheartened by hearing that he took all of a few minutes to see my information and determine there was nothing he could do. This was a complete waste of my time, money, and their resources for my visit. There needs to be someone to triage referrals so they are not wasting patient's time- literally MONTHS of my time only to be behind even longer waiting to see someone else who can hopefully help. When he mentioned he couldn't do anything for me I began to cry almost immediately and his response was cold asking me why I was crying.… This is where bedside manner is important. A cold response to someone crying vs a sincere empathic response are completely different and it took him moments before he was out the door immediately after asking me why I was crying. I wanted to speak with someone before I left, but I have never been so truly sad in my life.

Dr. Arnold did my surgery on my neck. I had gone to e Dr's before him. I was getting to the point not being able to walk. He fused C-4,5,6 &7. I had instant relief and have never had a problem since. I got my life back.

It has been 2 1/2 years since I had Rod’s put in my lower back . Experiencing lots of pain and numbness in whole right side from wrist to heel ! Please make sure you choose a good Dr to perform back surgery, because if you don’t it will live with you the rest of your life !!!

I have hesitated for almost 5 years, thought I would let it go...I had back pain, diagnosed herniated disc. He had been recommended, highly recommended to me as a great neurosurgeon. I went to see him because of great pain. He suggested 12 phys.therapy sessions, 3 epidural shots and 2 MRIs. All was clear, he had the evidence, I do not think he has ever bothered to look at. After 5 months of enduring pain, he told me that there's noting he can do outside some more phys. therapy he had recommended. Two weeks after I saw another neurosurgeon who told me straight at the very first visit with him: you need surgery fast. My surgery went well. I decided to write this review as again I have pain in my lower back, I have parformed two MRIs, my surgeon advised surgery. I wanted the opinion of another surgeon, but Paul Arnold WILL NOT BE THE ONE. As many here expressed their feelings, I agree he should leave practice, or KU MED should get rid of him because he is truly a PIG
