Dr. Paul G Basch, MD

Me and my family have been patients of dr. Basch for almost two decades. His bedside manner is impeccable and one of the things that attracted me was his being a minimalist when it came to medication and excessive testing. Problems started about two years ago when my platelets were declining. He minimized it saying it was normal aging. I complained of fatigue and he blamed it on my sleeping habits. Other minor symptoms were ignored. Suddenly my blood pressure started getting high. He suggested watching a few weeks and he would adjust the meds. I decided to see my cardiologist who immediately noticed swollen ankles and the ekg suggested Afib. Investigating Afib we discovered that I was suffering from a rare form of bicuspid valve regurgitation. I had open heart surgery and I am fine after 3 months recuperation. Minimizing meds and tests is a good thing but total lack of curiosity is a bad thing. Needless to say he is no longer my primary physician nor my family’s.

Dr. Basch is fantastic. I'm very particular about my doctors (probably have 20 still saved in my contacts from over the years), and I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Basch after my first primary care doctor in NYC moved to the West Coast. I have seen Dr. Basch a number of times, and he is always present, thoughtful, and insightful. I see consistency in how he addresses all who cross his path with respect. I believe he is a truly good person, one whose integrity and intellect are not mutually exclusive! (And no one asked me to review him or anything like that-- just doing this of my own volition/out of gratitude!)

People like going to the doctor and hearing there's nothing wrong. Unfortunately, this is dangerous when something is, in fact, wrong. Either Dr. Basch doesn't have the knowledge, or the care, to intervene when there's a problem- but upon second opinion, every time there /is/ in fact an issue. Some problems, on the road to lethal. You make the call. Bedside manner doesn't win over knowledge, in my book.

Best doctor. My family love him because he cares.

They don't come better than him. All around outstanding. Well schooled and very professional.

I have been seeing Dr Basch for many years, he is always prompt, concise and reliable. He gets lab results to you quickly and will listen to all of your questions.

Murray Hill Medical Group is the worst group in the city. The staff is rude and not organized. Dr. Basch is cold, uncaring and a mediocre doctor at best.

He is one of the best doctor that I had, very warm and professional.

Dr. Basch is the best. Does not over medicate, very rational and explains his thinking. He is great and I highly recommend him to all.

I made an appointment for my husband to see Dr. Basch because he needed a primary care physician and he came home telling me that Dr. Basch is the best doctor he has ever been to. He took his time throughout the entire visit, called him right away with his bloodtest results and always answers both phonecalls and email. I made an appointment to see him for myself, my parents, close friends and even co-workers. Dr. Basch is the best out there and I highly recommend him. As long as he is practicing we are going there, he is very personable, never a long wait, the staff is always pleasant and a huge plus is that they draw bloods, perform EKGS in the office and have an online appointment system so you never have to call. If you need a specialist for any reason they make out a referral and more than likely the doctor is located in the same building. We love him!!!!
