Dr. Paul Joseph Dougherty, MD

A well oiled office where you flow from one test to another seamlessly. Returning to Dr Dougherty because he dis my PKR in the 1990s and knew he’d know best how to do cataract surgery on his work.

I went to another Dr before I was referred to Dr Doughty by my primary Dr. the recommendation he had for my cataract repair and new lenses were different from the first Dr. I feel like I dodged a bullet and am blessed to have had Dr doughty fix my cateracts. I can see far and near with no halos. With the lenses the other Dr was going to give me I would have had halos and it was the wrong lense for me since I have macular degeneration. I recommend this Dr highly.

After my failed iridotomy procedure by Dr. Vosoghy in the same office, he referred me for a cataract evaluation. I have decided to give Dr. Dougherty a chance because I saw a video and he seemed passionate about his profession, a nice, and a trustworthy person. But this was far from the actual person I have met. He was impatient, dismissive, arrogant, and condescending. He avoided to answer my questions properly and gave me vague, generalized answers. He made me feel like an idiot and in a how come I don't already know the answer kind of way. Mostly his answer to all my questions was "you can get hit by a car tomorrow, you know". What?! I couldn't believe my ears. P.s. I asked for a copy of my records and they wanted to charge me $40 unless it's to be sent to a specialist they REFERRED me to but since they didn't refer me to anyone, they want the $. I told them they can shred everything. I received a couple of messages from the office manager asking to give her a call to see what… can be done to make it up to me. I have responded that she can email me my test results. Needless to say, I received no reply. (All the above are my sole personal opinion and experience.)

Don't recommend, I don't care how many awards he's received. He ruined my eyes, wiped out my entire close up vision, not just a little but alot and now I have to wear multifocal lenses. Was done in the westlake office. Also, all his reviews are bought n paid for, he also has the poor reviews eliminated. Go elsewhere for your eyes!! Yes, I'm a bonafide person he worked on!!

I can not believe that I can see so perfectly! I will forever be grateful with Dr. Dougherty. He walked me through all parts of what to expect and answered all of the questions I had. The staff was very nice and professional. They made sure I was taken care of. I was given the post-op instructions which was very clear and easy to follow. I knew that I was in good hands going into surgery. It was quick and easy did not feel any pain or discomfort. After my surgery was finished, I went home and fell asleep with the eye shields that were handed to me along with my drops and I couldn't believe that the next morning I was able to see!!! Oh my god!!! It was a great feeling that I will never forget. Dr. Doughtery is amazing and I recommend anyone that has been thinking of getting LASIK eye surgery or any other eye procedure to come and see him.

I was one of the first RK (radial keratotomy) patients back in the late 1970's - lots of cuts in both eyes with touch-ups, even Lasik and eventually wound up with cataracts. So you get the picture. Dr. Dougherty did an AMAZING job with both eyes and I now see 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other. Truly stunning! Great care from all involved and I could not recommend Dr. Dougherty any higher but would if I could!
