He moved to new office. He does not have the same staff and his great audiologist. It took me 2 days to get a renewal on my prescription ands then it was sent incorrectly. He also does not operate anymore

I have used Dr. Hammerschlag for over a decade driing in during rush hour to see him. If he wasn't special I would be using a local doctor. There is a reason he has given speeches internationally and been associated with such an excellent teaching hospital for decades; He did a Cochlear Implant 3 monhs ago and his contribution in addition to the audiologist who is an expert of=on CI's have lead to the best hearing I have had in 20 years. What is most important is he has excellent bedside manner and actually cares about your well being which isn't always the case tith doctors. He is an expert in his field and works very hard with babies thru 90 year olds to see you get the best care possible. I have recommended him to numerous people including family over the years because he is so special.

I came to Dr. Hammerschlag with one longstanding deaf ear and a recent sudden hearing loss in the other good ear. He spent a lot of time with me explaining what could have caused the sudden hearing loss, and what the recommended course of medical treatment should be. I left the office feeling much more hopeful than when I arrived. My hearing has improved with the medication he prescribed. The most important thing is that I feel I was in the right place, with a knowledgeable and caring physician.

I was referred to Dr. Hammerschlag by a neurologist, Harold Weinberg, MD, at NYU Langone Medical Center for complete right facial paralysis caused by a tumor at the skull base. Dr. Hammerschlag was very supportive and put me at ease with his proposed treatment of this unusual problem. He explained in detail how he was going to deal with this problem. With a neurosurgical colleague, John Golfinos, MD, in a combined approach, Dr. Hammerschlag removed the tumor and grafted my facial nerve back together. Several months later, the facial function returned almost completely to normal and there was no loss of hearing. I was able to go onto college and then pursue a career in law enforcement. As I learned more about my surgery, I consider myself very fortunate to have received such wonderful care at the NYU Langone Medical Center with a terrific outcome

Great doctor & great staff

I saw Dr. Hammerschlag for disabling vertigo from Meniereâ??s disease, which did not respond to medication therapy. These episodes of vertigo were ruining my Iife: I feared that I would not be able to attend my upcoming wedding or go on my honeymoon. Dr. Hammerschlag finally advised endolymphatic sac surgery, which was performed four months before my wedding. Since my surgery three years ago, I have not had any vertigo along with preservation of my hearing, and I was able to enjoy my wedding and my newly married life. I freely admit that I was incredibly anxious with many, many questions throughout the year before my surgery. Dr. Hammerschlag was very patient with me, and later, my fiancé, and my family in Boston. He was always available, concerned, and reassuring during these difficult times. The front office was very comforting and efficient.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hammerschlag for over 5 years .Even though I had constant ear infections in one ear ,the diagnosis of a cholesteatoma ,some Hearing loss and other problems the thought of an operation even the suggestion was not an option for me A recent Cat Scan confirmed everything Dr .Hammerschlag had told me.My condition had declined severely with some Bone erosion. I was operated last month,5 hours--Dr Hammerschlag is an outstanding surgeon .He was caring ,called me at home even though week end replacement had done so .He answered all Questions --I never experienced any pain and so far I have been to his office twice .His Sec.Maria is competent and kind and NYU was most satisfactory.
