Dr. Paul Roderick Helft, MD

Perhaps Dr. Paul Helft is a good Oncologist if you have a normal cancer, however I’d suggest staying away from him if you have neuroendocrine cancer. Recommend finding an actual Oncologist that specifically specializes in that particular disease.

We saw Dr. Helft for a second opinion after his current chemo was not slowing my husband's bile duct cancer. Our experience with Dr. Helft has been excellent--extremely caring. He asked questions my husband and I, then explained so that we completely understood the situation. He said we could call with questions. Later, when local medical providers could not stop my husband's vomiting, I called Dr. Helft. He explained what needed to be done and talked with our local physician. If not for Dr. Helft, my husband would have soon died of dehydration, vomiting and in misery.

Dr. Paul Helft treated my mother for stomach cancer in 2005/2006. He has the best bedside manner of any doctor I have ever seen. When dealing with terminal cancer I am sure it's never easy to give the bad news. Dr. Helft was not only professional but he was also sympathetic to all of us. He always looked my mother in the eye when she was asking questions. He always spoke directly to her and made sure SHE understood her condition. The loss of my mother is the hardest thing I have ever had to face. But with the help of Dr. Helft and his staff it made the worst time of my life a little less confusing. Megan Jeffries
