Dr. Sheena Kaur Aurora, MD

Dr Aurora is an amazing human being, a skilled researcher and skilled physician. She is one of the most compassionate doctors I've ever had the privilege of meeting. Her compassion is written all over her face as she listens and is very intuitive. She has been tireless in her constant concern to help me with severe headaches. I've been to other doctors searching for help, but Dr. Aurora has been such a gift to me and is by far, "One in a Million" when it comes to care, concern, skill, knowledge, expertise, and human compassion. This Doc deserves 10 STARS!

Dr. Aurora is my hero! After suffering from extremely debilitating headaches for two years and having MRIs, CT scans, seeing numerous other Stanford specialists, making multiple trips to the ER and Urgent Care, Dr. Aurora examined me for five minutes and made a diagnosis. She prescribed medication and I have been pain-free for the past three months. She listened, explained everything thoroughly, had a delightful sense of humor and was empathetic. I recommend her highly!

Technically I'm seeing Doctor Aurora but I only saw her once for five minutes. Really I'm seeing a rotation of doctors, a new one each time, each one very green. My headaches are atypical and not controlled, and aren't going to be improved except with some ongoing support and experimentation. But that's not possible when there is no patient rapport at all. I have no direct line of communication with Doctor Aurora, none at all. The quality of care has been quite poor. I need to find a new doctor, because I simply have no trust at all in Doctor Aurora nor her team.

I have seen numerous doctors for my migraines (I have had them my whole life) and Dr. Aurora is one of the worst. She was very unhelpful. She wouldn't answer my questions (yes, I did come prepared with questions), even when I asked about treatments she has run trials for. I tried the DHE Infusion which did nothing for me, and when I asked about other Infusions I was ignored. She would only consider doing Botox again on me (I tried it in the past for a year and I had no relief). This Botox caused me to have the worst migraine of my life, they called it an "unnatural migraine." My mom had to call the office for me because I was in such severe pain I couldn't move - it felt like my head was literally splitting open. They were all extremely unhelpful and unconcerned. I do not plan to go there ever again. This is not the type of experience I would expect from an institution like Stanford which is famous for its research and treatment. It took me a long time to finally get a referral and an… appointment and I feel like it was a complete waste of time and now a huge bill.

This doctor is the worst I have experienced at Stanford. She did not solve my problem and gave me no specific advice on how to treat my condition. She went on to say I had the brain of a 70 year old (even though I am 53) and wrote in her report that my husband was overbearing. I believe this was because he pressed her for answers and explanations that she could not answer. I was not comfortable with her demeaner. She charged an excessive fee considering the short time she spent and the fact that she never personally examined me. Her intern did all the work and reported her findings to Dr. Aurora. Up to now all the doctors at Stanford have been excellent but this doctor is inferior and substandard at best!

I waited 4 months to see her about migraines. She basically handed me two pamphlets and told me to download an app. Then she asked me if I had any questions - I told her I still did not understand what was causing my migraines and how to prevent them. She told me the app would help me figure that out. Thoroughly disappointed!

In my experience with the medical community i find bring a list of questions. Swedish is not the best facility but I believe Dr Aurora is worth the wait and every penny. She may not win the best friend award, but she is smart, she does care, and she keeps on trying. Great bedside manner is wonderful, but I have learned over the years to advocate for myself. Specialists have hundreds of patients so bedside manner isn't critical to me. Getting well was. Dr Aurora was great for us, hands down.

I waited 3 months to get in to see Dr. Aurora and this was fine as she came highly recommended. I had 3 concerns and only 2 of the 3 were addressed. A drug was prescribed and I was sent on my way. I went to the pharmacy to get the RX and was told my insurance won't cover it. I then called Dr. Aurora's office and was told I would need to schedule ANOTHER appointment to discuss this with the Dr. WHY? Can't she just give me a call so I don't have to wait , drive all the way downtown again to pay $6.00 to park and then another $30.00 co pay. I just saw her Monday and this is only Wednesday and she wants me to come back in?!?!?! I am so disapointed and still have my original unresolved issues.

I waited 6 weeks for my appointment and found out when I arrived that she no longer personally sees to her established patients. I paid $91 to see a nurse practitioner for all of 5 minutes. The NP was nice, but a better Doctor could have talked with me over the phone and resolved my issue 6 weeks earlier instead of wasting my time and money and 6 weeks of migraines.

Excellent care from a caring doctor. She was especially helpful with care during my difficult pregnancy.
