Dr. Paul Harold Kalina, MD

My experience with Dr. Kalina has been very very outstanding. When I first met him, I thought he was a bit distant and pretty serious but somehow we connected, he relaxed and to me became way more "down to earth" as they say and this may be strange but I look forward to seeing him as does my wife. She has been with me for most all my visits with him. He has performed glaucoma surgery on both eyes for me and at the same time did both cataracts. I was in yesterday for a follow up on my surgery and he has got both eye pressures right where he is very happy with. Everyone interacts differently with people, doctors are no exception but I trust him and respect him and I follow exactly what he says to do and I've had a great outcome. He's another of my favorite doctors that are part of Health Partners, so far I'm pretty much batting 1000. On a side note, we sometimes wait a good while to see him at our appointment. I think he's overworked a bit, I hate to see that happen to… him, it's none of my business but I think it's a bit overworked. He never rushes through an appointment so he tends to get behind during the day and booking an appointment often needs to be done out a couple months or so. To us, he's well worth the wait.

My recent visit I sat in the exam room for 35 minutes. My appt was at 1:30 he finally showed up may 2:05. No apology for long wait or explaination, like it was no big deal. Then after leaving the exam room to make another appointment, no one at the appt. desk and waited for ar least 5 minutes before this very unprofessionally dressed & unconcerned woman showed up. Then her appt schedule for visual fields test didn't allow her to go into November. Total visit very unsatisfactory. Worst I've ever experienced.

I am extremely pleased with the results of my cataract surgery performed by Dr. Kalina. He listened carefully to me and spent a lot of time discussing the plan for surgery. I know gave 20/15 vision!

Dr Kalina performed my cataract surgery. He explained exactly what he would do and we discussed using mono vision and toric lenses for astigmatism. My results were beyond my highest expectations with 20/20 vision in both eyes and no reading glasses needed!
