Dr. Paul Damien Lyons

Dr. Paul Lyons is an amazing Neurologist! He literally saved my life! When other physician's had given up on me & put me into the Hospice Program Dr. Lyons stepped in (When he had no obligation to do so!). He and his profound brilliance were able to come up with a treatment plan that not only spared me from the grasp of Death; but, more importantly gave me my life back! I was able to come off Social Security Disability and resume a very successful career as an RN. I am thriving now & I owe it all to. Dr. Lyons. Yes, their office is extremely busy and that's a bit stressful for some people. But, for me and my situation it was well worth the wait!! Thank You Dr. Lyons!!

This practice is a joke. Avoid if at all possible. Doctor doesn't know what he is doing and the staff is horrible to deal with. They are rude and cancel appointments without even notifying the patient.

Other docs wanted me to just live on disability & keep having seizures. They just kept getting worse & my life fell apart. With the help of Dr.Lyons I had surgery, have found the right meds and am putting my life back together. I’ve never met a doctor that is so down to earth, genuinely compassionate and knowledgeable about more than just his own specialty. Recommend in a heartbeat!

Lyons does not care about his patients and prescribes dangerous medications with severe side effects. He has no conscience. Lyons did not read patient's records and prescribed medication that led to terrible side effects. His professionalism is non-existent. Front office staff are rude and not accommodating to patient's needs.

I would really like to give him more stars as his bed side manner is awesome, but after several visits we still have not figured out what is going on with our grandson and when you call in to the nurse more times than not you dont get a call back. So it dont do any good calling in to let the dr. Know when my grandson has had a seizure and what to do next. Making an appt is so far between.Going in on an appt you may wait in the room for the dr. Sometimes 1-2 hrs.

I have never seen such a brainless group of people in all my life. Everyone working under Dr. Lyons and Dr. Lyons himself are totally incompetent and excessively lazy!

He told what myself and Dr already knew. Told me my symptoms were common signs of Lyme disease which I tested negative for. When I informed him I have herniated discs and Degenerative Disc Disease and Fibromyalgia are common on my maternal side, I got no response but that asking me when my follow up appointment with my PCP was...

At the age of 35, my father was diagnosed with epilepsy; he is now 81. Over the years, he's seen many different doctors to treat his seizures, both internists and neurologists, and over the years he has been on just about every anti-seizure medicine there is. The medical term is "medically refractory" epilepsy. Of all the doctors he has had, Dr. Lyons has been by far the very best. I am so very glad that he has a practice here in the Shenandoah Valley! His patients are able to see him close to home instead of making long trips to UVa or Johns Hopkins. Epilepsy remains a difficult condition to treat, and it is often not well understood by employers, teachers, and the general public. I appreciate the articles in the Northern Virginia Daily that have described the experiences of some of Dr. Lyons' patients. They help to get the word out of the seriousness of epilepsy and the hope of treatment and cure. Every case of epilepsy is unique. My father's epilepsy is reasonably, but… not perfectly, controlled. Dr. Lyons understands the various medications and therapies that are available and he is terrific at tailoring the them to the needs of his patients. But more than that: he treats the whole patient, striving for the best possible overall quality of life for the patient and the patient's family. He is a healer in the deepest sense of the word. The office has improved its scheduling practices and these days the wait time to see the doctors/physicians assistant is much less. Epilepsy is a challenging condition both for the patient and their families to manage, and for their doctors as well. Medication schedules have to be followed precisely and the patient must never be without medication. Regrettably, for some patients, crises do occur. I figure that if we sometimes have to wait a little bit for our appointment, it means that Dr. Lyons is with someone else who is in a more critical condition. I am thankful every day that he is my dad's doctor. I highly recommend him to anyone who has, or who has a family member who has, epilepsy.
