Dr. Paul Joseph Mackoul, MD

Consulted with Dr. Mackoul in 2012 to remove 1 ovary due to a large cyst. He stated he would take a tissue sample during surgery to pathology to check if malignant or benign so he could decide if the other ovary should be removed or do more biopsies. Nurse called prior to surgery to confirm the oopherectomy on the right. When I arrived at the Holy Cross Hospital I was shocked when I was asked to give permission for a hysterectomy & declined. Dr. Mackoul was 2 hours late, then proceeded to lie & state we discussed hysterectomy, then left the room to ‘pretend’ call his RN & said she agreed she called me about a hysterectomy. I had family that had arrived from out of town to watch my kids, done all the pre-surgery tasks, was vulnerable due to my husband’s recent death & was in total shock & unnerved by what was happening and sadly went through with the hysterectomy. For him, it was an easier surgery to do the whole thing rather than a part & more $. Later I found out he had lost… privileges at Washington Hospital Ctr due to his incompetence and substandard care. He now has his own surgery center (where regulations are lax) & a simple search shows he's had 14 lawsuits since 1991. Do your research!

The main reason I went with CIGC was the minimal invasiveness of the DualPortGYN surgical technique, the expertise of the meticulous surgeons, and the volume of successful surgeries. Dr. Mackoul explained how the cardinal and uterosacral ligaments were not fully cut in this type of hysterectomy, which appealed to me as it translated to an easier recovery with decreased risk of prolapse. Removing or leaving ovaries was another decision I also appreciate having one miniscule scar way down low, imperceptible, and that my abdominal muscles were not cut. I was thrilled with the care I received from the team, and that surgery was in the ambulatory surgery center in New Jersey, which allowed for a 40 minute surgery with minimal time to get scheduled; it felt safer than going to a hospital for a 3 hour robotic operation. I am a 42 year old woman who suffered fibroids; painful cycles and heavy bleeding; Dr. Mackoul performed my hysterectomy Surgery on September 21st. It was wonderful. No complications; very minimal pain and bleeding. I was back to feeling like myself in 4 days. Ladies if you have an issue with fibroids, endometriosis, etc. Go see Dr. Mackoul ASAP! Best decision that I could have ever made. Thank you to the entire staff!

I had a 19 pound fibroid, but was able to have a laparoscopic procedure! Just a few tiny incisions that I can now barely see. And two weeks of recovery... I was driving in a week!

Everything was explained very well and everything went as explained. Everyone had been patient and very understanding. I knew exactly what to expect. The recovery was very easy. Beautiful facility, itâ??s definitely a great choice for surgery.

Dr. Mackoul was so nice and calm and really put me at ease. I am a much larger girl and was terrified at the process, but surgery and recovery were pretty spectacular. Highly recommend him.
