Dr. Jason Shannon, MD

I had a bad experience with Dr Shannon. I explained when I had my kidney stone removal that my body does not do well with a stent. My concern fell on deaf ears and a stent was placed. I had to have it removed 3 days later by the doctor on call. I called his office every day after complaining of spasms and extreme pain. I was told to take more pain meds. My former urologist when I lived in IL understood my body reacts differently. He would admit me for 24 hours to the hospital on fluids and pain meds and then I’d be fine. This ordeal lasted for 8 days. It was a nightmare. I just received a 2nd opinion this morning from a different urologist. He listened to me and said if this happens again he will follow what WORKS FOR ME and continue with what my urologist in IL had done before. I was hopeless before today. Friday I received a call from Dr Shannon’s nurse who was defensive and rude. She didn’t even offer follow up. She basically hung up on me. Thank goodness for this new urologist!!… Good luck trying to get Dr Shannon or his staff to listen. I was warned he had no bedside manner but this was far beyond that!!

Hi my name is Ms. Brown, I had my initial visit for the first time with Dr. Shannon on something like February 27, 2023. First off, I was so nervous, that my mind was focus on scared and bad news but, Charmine his nurse was so kind and in tune to my fears. she said some very encouraging words that helped me so much. I felt much better and ready to tackle anything that I faced. When a patient like me (MS Brown) was already so nervous being at a urology in the first place it helps very much when the nurse caring for you reassures that everything will be fine. Thank you, much Charmaine, for being so caring. You have the most pleasant and caring tone and sometimes tone and caring are everything. Kudos to you. Now Dr. Shannon, you are one of the best doctors that I have encountered. your bedside manner is impeccable. You made me feel so at easy the first time I visited. Moreover, when I came in for my procedure on the 3/24/23, My nerves where shot but because of your empathetic and… gentleness. I felt care for and safe, I knew then I was under a doctor of experience and of greatness. Dr. Shannon, make you feel cared for as a patient. So, ladies if this experience is new to you, or if you are looking for a great urology. Memorial Coast Urology Dr, Shannon and Charmaine is the place to visit. also, the receptionist they were wonderful. Both receptionists, the one that greeted you, to take payment and the one that schedule appointments. Both were very pleasant.

I waited over 6 hours for outpatient surgery, even after being called to come in earlier for my appointment. Six months prior to this, I waited over four hours for the same 20 minute outpatient procedure. I thought I was a good patient and don’t know what I did to deserve this, but I’ll find another doctor.

Dr. Shannon has an extremely pleasant demeanor and has the ability to make the patient feel at ease and confident. I would highly recommend Dr. Shannon to anyone seeking a competent urologist.
