Dr. Paula Levine Klein, MD

Rude, harsh, not caring, unprofessional. Stay away.

I accompanied a loved one to see this doctor. She may have years of clinical expertise, but she is rude and lacks compassion. My loved one is elderly and recovering from breast cancer. This doctor made a reference to her mortality which is very inappropriate given my relative's cancer was caught when it was small. I was livid. She has no sensitivity or compassion. Additionally, I observed she would sigh as if though she were bored and even looked at her phone a few times while her fellow did most of the work. Her lack of sensitivity is appalling.

I found out I had breast cancer Nov 2017. Dr Paula Klein was a referal. At first her silly goofy actions was a breath of fresh air that made me laugh. As time went on I noticed she wasn’t on top of my cancer. She joked entirely too much about my sickness, she rushed me never explained details and acted as if she didn’t have time. 6 months ago after my chemo she called me and said she saw something suspicious in my back and lungs but laughed and assured me it was nothing. She called again with someone else’s chart and joked oh this isn’t you. She didn’t request any additional test to check my back and kept making guesses. 1 month ago I started to complain to her my back pain it was excruciating I couldn’t walk some days I was very tired shortness of breath it was bad. She ignored me and thought I was lying. Her nurse Nancy said I was like the boy that cried wolf. They didn’t want to prescribe me pain medicine. Why would I lie. I begged her to get a cat scan and pet scan finally she… listened. Just to get the results and say my cancer had spread to my back and lungs. She even tried to blame me for it and said do you really want to know we’re it spread. I left more confused she didn’t tell me anything about treatments She actually had me so upset it’s like she was telling me I was going to die. She has no sympathy or compassion for her patients. She laughs at your pain and seems loopy on drugs most of the time! DO NOT GO TO DR PAULA KLEIN SHE HAS NO COMPASSION AND MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE ITS YOUR FAULT. If she would have taken it seriously 6 months ago I wouldn’t be here. Because of her neglect it’s worsened. She will not fight for you she will rush you please find a better doctor.

Having cancer is hard enough. The office is very disorganized and rude when trying to get prescriptions filled and appointments made. They fail to follow through. Also, Dr Klein is extremely technologically challenged and fat-shamed me after handing me a cookie. I am switching doctors and would highly recommend choosing someone else for your oncologist

May 2018. Most stunning and unprofessional experience with Dr. Klein, so much so I left for MSK. Highlights was her telling me "Did you breastfeed your children?" Me- "Yes" Dr. Klein "Well--alot of good that did ya, you still got breast cancer! Ha!". She also claimed to not recognize me btw rooms because my hair was in a bun??? She kept saying "is that really you, are you sure I just saw you in the other room?" And she kept chanting to me, "Avatar" over and over again, which was reference to a clinical trial she wanted me join asap. I left her office angry and distressed because she reminded me of a crazy person on drugs who was not in her right mind. She also reminded me of a character from 30 rock-- total wackadoodle. Best of luck and Avoid her like the plague!

If you have to wait a while, consider that there may be patients dealing with some pretty tough news down the hall. Dr. Klein is very bright, sympathetic and friendly but no-nonsense. Just the way I like it. She has been honest and deliberate throughout my multi-year journey, although can feel brusque at times. She's a great advocate and teacher, and if my situation were to become less positive, I know she'd be a great champion.
