Dr. Peggy Nelson, MD

In a nutshell, it's mind-blowing to me that someone like this chooses to become a doctor--a career designed to help people. Since my autistic daughter has been an infant she doesn't react to pain like a typical child. It's been a huge challenge since by the time she would express discomfort, whatever was making her uncomfortable was usually very far along, severe, and required immediate attention. When I explained we were there because I knew something wasn't right because my daughter has such a high threshold for pain, I could see this doctor shut down. She completely discounted everything I told her after that. She took blood, told me to give her a vitamin D supplement and sent us on our way. I didn't sleep a wink that night. We waited a long time for this appointment, and she didn't even seem to listen to us. I felt like I had let my daughter down. I wanted answers for her so badly. First thing the next morning, I got a message from a nurse telling me to pick up a prescription for… thyroid medicine my daughter was to begin immediately. I asked questions but this nurse could answer none of them. Just kept repeating a prescription had been called in. The doctor never called to let me know what her thyroid level was, or to explain the new medication. I didn't know how long it would take for her symptoms to ease. I didn't even know when we should follow up. We have switched to Dr. Scott Hines and he is phenomenal. Completely opposite experience. He's a godsend.

I have been looking forward to my appointment for weeks now to hopefully finally get some answers with what’s going on with my hormones. Dr. Nelson walked in and I said I was excited to see her since it’s been almost 10 years. She rolled her eyes and the appointment went downhill from there. She was so rude! My mom asked a question and she said “you need to pay attention”. I believe she was referring to the notes my mom was typing in her phone so when one of my other doctors asks what happened at the appointment my mom can tell them. I asked her if my hormone imbalance had something to do with my headaches and being exhausted all the time and her answer was “I’m not a neurologist, you need to see a neurologist.” Now if she had looked at my file she would have saw I had an appointment with my neurologist yesterday. I believe if my next appointment goes as horrible as this one did I’ll be finding a new endocrinologist. There’s no reason to speak to someone the way she did after I… explained to her what I was going through and how I was feeling and what it took to get me to get an appointment with her! I left the exam room so upset.

I have been seeing Dr Nelson for years. We had a very good relationship until recently. She increased my thyroid medication dose about 8 months ago when my levels were normal because she wanted them a very tiny bit lower to be able to conceive. She bumped me up by 25 mcg and then failed to recheck me until 7 months later! I have been hyperthyroid for at least a few months. I have a medically fragile and special needs child at home and didn't notice my symptoms because I thought my lack of energy, my anxiety, my inability to sleep, irritability and the inability to conceive were from my difficulty of my daughters needs. Turns out it was from not being properly managed by my doctor. She had no empathy at all at my appointment that I've been severely sleep deprived or that I've spent months trying to have a baby when my time is limited. She was so cold, like she didn't know my situation or cared about it. I just wanted to get to my car to cry but it took the woman who does the check outs… 20 minutes! I am very hurt and disappointed. Coming on here shows me I'm not alone in this which is very unfortunate. If you want compassion and a good doctor I'd look elsewhere.

I've been getting conflicting messages and diagnosis from different doctors, I wanted one place to go to and that was Crystal Run. Dr. Nelson was amazing, finally sought an endocrinologist and she was the first doctor to sit down with me and explain EVERYTHING. She asked for all my labs, looked through everything, answered all of my concerns and prompted for more information (where I forgot symptoms after seeing so many different doctors)...she got to the real root of things, whereas others just 'yes'd" me and denied things I was saying. One doctor told me I just needed to sleep more, my labs showed otherwise. I can't say enough about Dr. Nelson, I'm VERY grateful I found her...will be going to Crystal Run for all my medical needs, looking to see a nutritionist there next to really start taking care of myself.

If you're looking for a Doctor with a nicer side, please look elsewhere. This Doctor has a terrible bedside manner. She may as well had brought in a casket to my consultation and told me to jump in. So cold and I personally dont think she wanted to help me. My visit was memorable for all the wrong reasons. She should consider working on the adminitrative side rather that looking people in the eye who need a Dr. who could atleast fake like thay care. Shame on you.

My visit with Dr. Nelson was Atrocious. Upon meeting her, I figured she was just having a bad day. But after talking with her for about two minutes, I had come to the conclusion that I was done and waiting for this ordeal to end. I have had Doctor talk to me harsh before but this Dr. was Rude, Uncaring, Moody and just unpleasant to be around. She spoke down to me and made me more angry than anything else. Her actions actually made me I'll. I left that appointment feeling defeated and depressed. This will never happen again as I will never see this [expletive] person again. So out of curiousity I googled her name and this is not the first time she has been this rude. Never again I tell you.

Dr.Nelson was professional but the wait was way too long.

I went to see Dr. Nelson as a referal from my ob/gyn since I'm diabetic. I got to the office and it took the front desk person 8 minutes to get to me, then another 10 to check me in. When I went in to see the doctor she was very short with me and lectured me about being pn time for my appts. I then informed her that she needs to speak with her staff about that. She continued to be very short with me during my visit and then gave me scripts. I use mail order and they couldn't even send it in for me. My pharmacy requested more info and 3 weeks later this office has not gotten back to them and I don't have my insulin. Do NOT see this doctor! It's a waste of your co pay and time!

Dr. Nelson is my Endocrinologist for a year (since I was diagnosed with diabetes). She is professional, personable, knowledgable, caring, attentive, realistic, can't ask for more. I'm sometimes in denial about having diabetes at my age and BMI but I can't deny she's a great doctor who takes time to answer my questions even though I'm usually a little late to my appts. Highly reccomended.

Dr. Nelson had no bedside manner, no eye contact was made with me. She clearly stated "I only treat patients by their test results and not their symptoms." She did not care that I have been experiencing chronic deep muscle/joint pain associated with my elevated TSH levels and not able to sleep for weeks. She said "You shouldn't be symptomatic." Like I was lying. She seems to treat everyone like they are all the same. Don't waste your time going to her. She also made some inappropriate comments about my weight. A horrible experience. She lacks empathy.
