Waited less than 10 minutes for him to see my 14 year old son who broke his wrist snowboarding. Very thorough. Excellent “bedside” manner Personable Good sense of humor

This doctor was awesome. He treated my grand daughter as if she were his own child and was great with her. I liked him very much.

I had an on the job injury and saw Dr. Apel. I had to have Pins places in my hand. For me, he was an excellent doctor/surgeon. He is not the type to sugar coat something, for my health I don’t want it sugar coated. I want the honest truth. No issues with the hand surgery or recovery. His recovery period/time frame was exact.

I had both trigger thumb and carpal tunnel. Dr Apel had an excellent bedside manner and was wonderful. I highly recommend him and would return to him anytime. His nurses are excellent and caring. Spent a lot of time explaining everything thourghly and answered all questions. And I ask a lot! He really put me at ease, follow up care was just as great! Never rushed me like a lot of doctors do! I am a nurse (but he didn't know it) and checked him out well before I chose him, my insurance company didn't.

Dr. Apel was very attentive to my concerns and answered all of my questions with great detail. He even called to address one of my concerns. The team was excellent and performed a tedious and intense surgery on my shoulder to release impinged nerves entrapped under the muscle. Dr. Apel was there early the next morning to see how I was doing after spending a long evening in surgery.

Great doctor. Dr. Apel performed surgery on my son who suffered "jersey finger" playing football. He is an excellent doctor. My son had a full recovery. He has great OT's as well.

Dr Apel and his nurses were absolutely fantastic! I could not have asked for a better team. I had to be awake for my procedure and they were all very caring and understanding! It was a quick and easy experience!

Dr Apel seen my son all of 5 mins was extremely rude, told me my son wasn’t in pain, and told me that my sons hand wasn’t as bad as it looked. My son is 12 with autism. When my son first broke his hand a month ago he didn’t even want to leave school but yet he tells me that my son is playing me about his pain. If only I could post a picture of his hand to show that his tendon is rubbing his bone. I will never go to him again also wouldn’t recommend him to anyone.

Very rude and just overall a terrible experience. Dealt with sport injuries my whole life and easily the cockiest and most arrogant surgeon I’ve ever come across. If something is wrong with your recovery, expect to be blamed. Would recommend going to Charlottesville or anywhere besides Roanoke. Seriously, before you get anything done by him look into other options, you don’t want to be stuck in my situation. Im not a person to ever read/write reviews but That’s how bad i believe he was.

Would not recommend this doctor. Terrible bedside manner. Made my Issue worse and ignored me.
