Dr. Peter Murray Birnstein, MD

His diagnostic skills have been excellent. I have trusted him and his referrals completely for over 22 years.

I left Santa Monica in 1965 to begin working for impoverished American Indians. When I eventually fell ill, I could not have been in better & more caring hands. I think Dr. Birnstein has been my physician & friend for more than 35 years. I started in the music industry in '59 & had my first recording hit #1 in America. I wrote songs for Herb Alpert, The Isley Brothers, Bert Berns, The Walker Brothers, The Beachboys & more. I left music to work as a dedicated educator for minority citizens receiving sub-standard education etc. in America. Many had sub-standard medical care too. I often had others drive me over 600 to 800 miles to get his excellent care. I have been the Teacher of the Year in many cities and Indian nations & I have often noted how rare first class care is in almost every profession. Anyone grading Dr. Birnstein with one star has to be an angry and misinformed human. Did this angry person ever hear of urgent care centers. Your life is important, please learn… how to be wise when everyone isn't able to jump when you are having a crisis. I have worked at mostly minority schools and even when I was the teacher of the year or volunteer of the year, people insulted me and slandered me. Perhaps we should all just sit home in a rocker and avoid these foolish or mean critics. D. Drowty

Dr. Birnstein was a good doctor for 10+ years, but he's an 9-5 guy who takes long lunches and has an unfriendly staff. When I became deathly ill with what turned out to be a rare virus, I called him at home on a Sunday after 8 am - to which he answered "Do you know what time it is?" and hung up on me. I ended up in the ICU - and recovered - but no doctor on my case could believe what he done - and after many years as a patient neither could I.

Very thorough, capable and genuinely nice. I have felt in good hands and not rushed.

Vast, up to date knowledge extending way beyond standard PCP level. Extremely patient, calm, and thorough. He calls back, thinks of everything, and really cares about people. Very competent and cordial nurse and receptionist as well.

I have been a patient for over 30 years. Dr. Birnstein is simply great.
