Dr. Peter Kovacs, MD

I went to this office looking for a neurologist to continue my treatment for MS. I've had MS for 15 years and was new to the state thankfully not to treating MS. I felt that the Dr. was unfamiliar with treating and caring for a patient with MS. The initial exam was very quick and short. Nothing like I've had in the past. I felt like I was providing more insite on MS then he was. When I left, the front desk hand wrote my next appointment in an appointment book. Nothing was digital. The waiting room was furnished with patio furniture, outdoor patio furniture. It was like walking into an office from the 90's. After I left I decided to continue my search for a new neurologist and had my records transferred. I waited for a bill for my visit but it never came. I just figured they took a long time to bill. After all, it didn't seem like a well managed office. Like I said, I'm not new to MS. I have years of bills for exams, blood tests, MRI's and medication's. The first and only bill I… received from this office was a collection notice for the amount of the visit. This is the first and only collection notice I have ever received in my life. This office is a joke! If they wanted me to pay my bill all they had to do was send a bill! Thankfully, I didn't trust them to handle my on going treatment of MS. If they can't get their billing right I can only imagine what could happen with my medical records.

I simply wanted to start back on my medication for Multiple Sclerosis after having a baby. I was told no because I don’t have MS! I’ve been treated for MS for 15 years. I understand that I’m young and seem healthy but that’s not a good reason to not let someone go back on medication. Now I see a doctor elsewhere. I’ve relapsed twice and my MRI showed multiple enhancing lesions on my brain. I’m having to start a new medication. This could have been avoided. I pretty much didn’t get and help from Dr. Kovacs. I do have MS!!

treating me for migraines and very nice and tentative

I was referred to this doctor from Cape Fear Valley due to a Legion on my brain and dizziness. Saw doc in Sep was told I had a stroke he did not prescribe anything but aspirin 81 mg and told to come back in two months. I go back to him to advise that i was still having problems with blurred vision and dizziness he states he is going to give me vit D and he will see me in two months. I ask him about another MRI due to the neuro in hospital stated they were not sure if the legion was due to MS or a stroke Dr Kovacs stated he was not sure and told me the vit D would help he gave me no more info and told me to come back in two months. He provided no insight into why i was still having dizzy and balance problems or what the next steps would be in figuring out what could be the issue. I am searching for a new neurologist he is the worse. I am more confused now then when i first went to the doctor and am concerned about prevention so that if it was a stroke how to prevent it from… happening again.

My time in the waiting room filling out paperwork was longer than my brief 4 minute consult. After explaining why I was referred, he seemed disinterested, rude, and apathetic to my issues. When I asked what he thought could be causing the pain, he just shrugged and said, "I don't know." So, I started asking more specific questions to try to make him expand in his responses. All I received was shrugs and, "I don't know." After my 4 minute visit I was surprised that he told the receptionist to make me an appointment for 2 months from now. Why? (Shrug, I don't know.)

I was told not to go see this physician. I simply went out of convenience, close by and could see me right away. Well, I know why he was so "open" and could see me right away. Do yourself or a loved one a HUGE favor and find another doctor, no matter how long you must wait to get an appointment. I was rushed through a very important appt., spoken to coldly and like I was a child and was "dismissed" after only a few minutes and $250 later. Beware.

The Dr was prompt to enter into the room but was a jerk from shortly after the intro. I tried to let him know what I thought the problem was. I know my neck is the issue to my headaches. I proceeded to tell him that my neck hurt very bad even to move it and that is what causes the headaches. Without any warning he grabbed my neck and dug his fingers into it. Went down into the muscles of my shoulders. I start crying because the pain was so intense. He said "You crying?" "Really it hurts that bad?" Not that acted like he even cared. He acted like a complete and total jerk. Telling me I should have let him know I was in pain ( I did ). Then he completely dismissed me like there was nothing wrong. Gave me a new medication and told me to come back in 2 months. I will not be going back and highly would not ever recommend anyone else to.

Hardly spent any time with me. Looked thru 2.5 pages of symptoms and told me there was nothing neurological. My primary physician did more testing with me than he did. He asked me what I though my problem was. If I knew that, would I need to be seeing a neurologist. Very bad visit. I'm actually considering telling my insurance to not pay him for this excuse of a consult.
