Dr. Peter Klinger

He isn’t a good Dr. for medical complex child with autism. I got tired of excuses when I brought up concerns disregarding me. I know my child better than anyone and I’m an important part of ensuring he gets help. He wouldn’t admit that new behaviors could be problems from medications. I just got the, “well that’s autism.” For an educated Dr. you would think he would comprehend that it’s not always so simple. We have moved on, and since taking him off certain medications he does a lot better. If you advocate for your nonverbal child do yourself a favor and find a Dr. that doesn’t disregard your concerns but address them.

We tried to work with Dr. Klinger, but found that he was unwilling to admit that he had possibly mis-diagnosed our child, causing significant delays in healing. He stayed on track with his original diagnosis, and even when presented with other possibilities, he dismissed them. I was told by him that I "need to be careful what I read" when researching possible alternate options. We did not feel as though he worked well with our child, and felt as though our thoughts were dismissed. We were not treated as though we had anything to offer to the plan, or that we might have knowledge about our own child. Overall, I would say we were treated in an extremely condescending manner, and am so grateful that it spurred us to get a second opinion.
