Dr. Peter A. Lechman, MD

He’s probably competent. He cared for our son for 4 years and nothing went seriously wrong. But avoid him. It’s not just his unpleasant manner, you can call “no-nonsense,” “gruff,” or “rude” depending on your spin. Rather, it is his unsolicited personal judgments. We stopped going to him because when he asked about educational plans, and we said we were still deciding, he responded with a condescending, judgmental sneer that he hoped at least we were not going to home school. This was grossly offensive and beyond the pale of professionalism. At the time (pre COVID), homeschooling was simply one of several options. It worked for me and some of my friends, as we are successful professionals, but it’s hardly for everyone. The bigger point is regardless of your view of the homeschooling, avoid Lechmann. He’s obviously comfortable injecting unsolicited, sneering personal judgment into medical care. It was homeschooling for me – it may be something else for you. Why tolerate that?

I brought my child to see Dr. Lechman various times. As time went on I realized he was snobby and negligent in his advise. I eventually found a new doctor. However, I'm writing today because I have recently become aware that he is known to make sexist, disgusting, misogynistic comments about the mothers of the children he treats (like I actually saw him say it in print, for example). I'm just shocked and appalled. To think new moms are bring their babies to a person like this makes me feel sick. In case anyone else wants to avoid a person like this...

I can't say enough about Dr. Peter Lechman. He puts me completely at ease and is extremely professional, caring, compassionate and has a great sense of humor! We've been with him since my son was born 2.5 years ago and have been so happy with him and the entire practice. I've referred family to this practice and they are extremely happy also. Being a new parent can be stressful and intimidating, but Dr. Lechman is so understanding and helpful. He's the best!

I went to another pediatrician before finally being referred to Dr. Lechman by my OB/GYN. Being a new mom, I was not really sure what I should expect from a pediatrician. I had no real "problems" with my old one but in comparison, Dr. Lechman was fabulous! He was very thorough in the check up and with explaining everything to me. He also advised me on things that I was not aware of and that my other pediatrician did not tell me about in caring for my son. Dr. Lechman not only had great bedside manner with me as the parent, but he was genuinely having a good time making my 3 month old laugh while evaluating him. I never felt rushed with him and he answered every question that I had with him before leaving the room. I'm so happy to have found him! Dr. Lechman is about a 35 min drive from my home in no traffic so it is by no means convenient to see him but it is so worth the drive for me to take my son to him. Thanks Dr. Lechman!

He has been my son's pediatrician for several years and Dr. Lechman has been wonderful. We will sadly leave his practice as my son has recently turned 18. Thank you for your professionalism and good humor through the years!

I switched from my old doctor to Dr. Lechman after getting him for a single sick-child visit and have been with him every since (8 years). He is extremely knowledgeable, reassuring, and calm with a strong dose of common sense. I trust him implicitly with my children's medical needs and leave his office everytime reassured that they are getting the best possible care.
