Dr. Peter Charles Albert Lovett, MD

Never go to Dr. Lovett. During an annual exam, Dr. Lovett instructed me to come back for a follow-up Vitamin D lab test. I asked if that was part of my annual exam, because I am lower income (on food stamps, housing insecure, etc.) and can't afford any out-of-pocket doctor's visits, despite being a full time grad student and working four jobs. He insisted that it was part of my annual exam. This was also my mistake for trusting this doctor instead of double-checking with my insurance company beforehand, but now due to his fraudulent counsel, Sutter Health is claiming that I owe them $150. After months of contesting this bill through my insurance company and through Sutter Health (dozens of messages, letter of appeal and phone calls) they are still charging me for this bill even though their physician, Dr. Lovett misinformed a patient. Again, I'm lower income and I'm sure this doctor makes quite a bit more money than I do, and should be more up to par about billing etiquette, especially… if it can come at the expense of his patients who are struggling just to pay for groceries.

Dr. Lovett is an excellent doctor, he is a great listener and one of the best doctors that I have seen in SF. He is caring and intelligent, and respectful to his patients efforts to stay healthy.

Knowledgeable but doesn't listen well and jumps to conclusions. Makes assumptions without really reading the medical record.

Stay away from this office. Very poor doctor with angry and rude office staff. Office staff is a direct reflection of the doctor and how he chooses to run his office.

Wonderful doctor, wonderful human being. Best general medical care I've had in 20 years.

Dr. Peter C. Lovett is excellent. He takes the time to do a thorough diagnosis by asking the right questions and doing a physical exam. However, it is very unfortunate that some members of his staff are incompetent to the point of endangering patients' health and unnecessarily prolonging patients' physical suffering. Michael Harank, the principal advice nurse of the clinic (Berkeley Primary Care, which is part of Lifelong Medical Care), is particularly incompetent in this respect.

Peter C. Lovett listens to patients carefully, has a lot of experience, thoroughly examines patients and asks the right questions, very courteous, excellent bedside manner, excellent diagnostician. It is really unfortunate that the staff who answer the phones and sit at the front desk are incredibly rude and obstructive. The advice nurse is also very insensitive. However, if you can get past that, then you can't go wrong with Dr. Lovett.

Dr. Lovett treats his patients like criminals and is rude, snide, belittling, egotistical, and needs to go back to the clown college he received his license from and learn some proper bedside manners. It's "doctor's like him that make going to the doctor such an unpleasant and infuriating experience. I cant stress how much you should not see this monster for anything medical related for his practice is unethical in my opinion and probably borders on malpractice.
