Dr. Peter Movilla, MD

I am exactly 3 months/90 days post surgery with Dr. Peter Movilla today, and to say my life has changed for the better is an understatement. I have had 3 menstrual cycles since my surgery, which for me most notably included excision of endometriosis, which alone is astounding since my cycles had lasted up to 80 days themself prior to surgery, and each one I have been able to walk, work, live and ENJOY my days instead of being chained to isolation in pain. Dr. Movilla is an exceptional surgeon who truly exceeded my expectations during my recent minimally invasive gynecologic laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. From the moment I contacted the NWH MIGS department per recommendation of my fertility clinic, I felt at ease due to Dr. Movilla and his staff’s warm and validating demeanor. Dr. Movilla’s extensive knowledge and expertise were evident as he patiently explained the different facets and options for multiple gynecologic concerns of mine in our initial consultations, as well as the… procedures I felt ready for his team to perform, addressing all my concerns and ensuring I felt confident about moving forward. I had first asked a doctor about endometriosis eleven years ago due to painful and heavy menstrual cycles and got dismissed for over a decade until my fertility doctor, Dr. Jessica Ryniec, recommended laparoscopy for evaluation of my fallopian tubes and evaluation for endometriosis with Dr. Movilla. He was truly the first doctor to ever validate my pain and quality of life issues due to my menstrual cycles, which alone has renewed my sense of trust in women’s healthcare. On the day of the surgery, Dr. Movilla and his team displayed an unmatched level of professionalism and precision. The entire process at the NWH Surgical Center was streamlined and efficient, leaving me and my husband with a sense of calm and trust in their hands. Throughout the few hours of pre-surgical,the nurses, Dr. Movilla and anesthesiology staff kept me informed about each step. Their confident approach helped alleviate all the anxiety I had. The staff ensured I was well informed about what they may find and that the decisions for removal of tissue or organ(s) if necessary was mine and mine alone, which I am so so grateful for. The post-operative care I received from Dr. Movilla was equally remarkable. He took the time to monitor my recovery progress and provided detailed instructions to ensure a smooth healing process. I had a few concerns that ended up being nothing significant, but all of the staff took me very seriously and quickly addressed me. Their genuine concern for my well-being was evident in every interaction. I am beyond grateful to Dr. Peter Movilla for the remarkable surgical experience and my renewed sense of well being, not only physically with the removal of endometriosis but also mentally with the validation of my pain and sincere level of patient care. His skill, empathy, and dedication sets him apart as a truly outstanding medical professional. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Movilla to anyone in need of top-notch gynecological surgical care, as he is a shining example of excellence in women’s healthcare.

Dr. Movilla, and everyone I dealt with in the MIGS practice, was wonderful. My consultation appointment for endometriosis was 1.5 hrs because they took the time to carefully go over all my symptoms, explain all my treatment options, and let me decide what I would like to do. I had excision surgery within 2 months of my consultation appointment and it was successful, my pain is gone! Both Dr. Movilla and the nurses I met with were very well informed and up-to-date on endometriosis presentations and treatments. They seemed to understand and expect unusual symptoms of endo, and never questioned my pain/symptoms which was *incredibly* validating. Other things I was looking out for to assess the standard of care for endometriosis: Dr. Movilla did scans to check for endometriomas and adhesions so they could plan out my surgery (but didn't bat an eye that there was absolutely nothing on my ultrasound). He does excision over ablation, and partners with other surgical teams (bladder,… bowel, etc) to be on call for your surgery in case the endo in those areas ends up requiring a more specific expertise. He is knowledgeable on microscopic endometriosis (and biopsies large areas to test for it). Overall, I felt very informed and in charge of directing the treatment I wanted to receive. Recovery went great, and the whole experience was a such a wonderful change of pace from previous doctors I had consulted about my endometriosis. I am so happy I came here for excision surgery. If you have endometriosis, do not hesitate to schedule with Dr. Movilla!

It took me a while to find a doctor that made me feel comfortable and welcome! I am from Thailand and only trust doctor from my country, because we speak the same language and share the same culture. I was supper sick (I had stage four Endo) in 2022 and I could not make a trip to Thailand so I decided to search for a doctor that I can trust in America, and I found Dr. Peter Movilla . I visited his office a couple times to consult with him about my treatment. He was terrific!! ,knowledgeable, sensitive, informative, confidence, care, kind and thorough. He was a great listener. I especially loved how Dr. Movilla took his time to explain my conditions with me as well as my treatment options. It made me feel relieved to know that I am in a good hand and I can trust him like I trust Thai doctors. I had laparoscopic excision with Dr. Movilla on January 17,2023.
