My second time around with breast cancer and Dr. Richards petformed both surgeries. Thank you Dr. Richards and may God bless you with a beautiful retirement. Your an amazing surgeon and doctor that I will miss.

Dr. Richards is a gem!!! Intelligent, extraordinarily knowledgeable, professional, and meticulous! Everything one wants in a surgeon! If given a choice, I would always want Dr. Richards as my surgeon.

my mom and I came into Dr. Richards' office to discuss the possibility of him performing a lumpectomy due to her breast cancer. The experience was a terrible one from the moment we stepped in. The lady at the front desk had a bad attitude and didn't want to help us at all. She acted as if she was doing US a favor for every mondane task that she did. She even sent us a bill that was double the amount she had told us the visit would cost. Dr. Richards has a lot of experience and yet, he still didn't know that it is possible to find out whether or not the lymph nodes are clear while doing surgery by doing a frozen section cut. Instead, he was going to take more lymph nodes and just hope that they come out clear later on. He spent 30 minutes of our time scolding my mom for not having insurance and basically telling her there was absolutely no way she could pay for her cancer treatment (instead of leaving the financial issues to an expert in the field, he wasted our time-which we had to… pay for- and worried us to death over financial issues, which were solved easily later anyway). This was an absolutely horrible experience and we discourage anybody from stepping into this doctor's office as it will only create confusion, stress and discomfort for any patient. I give it one star because I can't give anything lower. We were very glad to get my mom's treatment at UCSF instead, where we were treated with such care and respect.
