Dr. Peter Joseph Snyder, MD

Rude, insulting ,pompous, arrogant. Not only was he nasty to me, he was very insulting to his own staff. He does not listen or answer your questions. I do not even know how to describe this experience -- except for crazy. I could not believe a doctor would act like he did. His staff was very pleasant and so was the Physician assistant's.

Dr. Snyder treated me for a terrible thyroid condition when I was a teenager (a long, long time ago). I remember him as being very good at what he does, and being very caring, all the while keeping a professional distance. A case in point: when I was under his care, my mom had a heart attack, and was hospitalized at the University of Pennsylvania. When he found out, he personally went to her hospital room to deliver a prescription for me. I've read other reviews (one from another physician) about how he can be condescending, and it baffles me. Perhaps in his own field, with other physicians, because he is one of the medical elite, there may be some truth to that, but it could also be professional jealousy. Overall, he has always struck me as quite the opposite of condescending - i.e., polite and humble. In fact, his colleagues were always talking about how great he was, to the point of hero worshiping him, but he always seemed very uncomfortable with all the accolades.

In recent visits Dr. Snyder has demonstrated a very condescending and unprofessional attitude to the patient. As a clinican he doesn't address the concerns or laboratory results of the patient and when asked a question he insults you.

I waited over two hours to see Dr Snyder at each of two appointmnts. When I had surgery in his hospital, he and his team failed to show up to participate in my care until the last day of my five day admission. His office staff pretended not to see me when I stood in front of the front desk asking about the schedule after two hrs. Then Dr Snyder got obssessed with an irrelevant point and focused more on the resident with him than me. He seemed to try to be the only one with a different opinion, which would have been great if he was right, but he was so obviously wrong. He was very snobbish and talked down to me, and I am also a physician. Beware!

This doctor is so awesome in terms of patient care, professionalism, and expertise. I could not have gotten a better doctor anywhere!
