Dr. Petros Euthymiou Carvounis, MD

I had surgery by Dr. Carvounis. I had a macular hole in my retina. I am an orthopedic surgeon and understand the importance of confidence in your surgeon. I had checked many other surgeons all through Texas, even consulting with a surgeon at the Mayo clinic regarding treating a Macular Hole. Dr Carvounis does a unique operation for this problem, not otherwise found in Texas, which does not require the traditional head down position. I had surgery on a Friday, a follow up on Saturday and drove back to my home in DFW area on Saturday afternoon. All, without a heads down position. I had no inconvenience and was back in surgery within one week of my procedure. I can highly recommend Dr. Carvounis, his experience, his expertise and his revolutionary techniques.

He is brilliant and caring and loves his work. Also he has a sense of humor. He only handles difficult cases. I would almost certainly be blind today in one eye if I had not found him. He is still in his early 40's and already internationally recognized. If anyone can save your vision, it is him.

Dr. Carvounis is a very compassionate and caring Dr. I have been to many doctor visits with my mom and have seen how many doctors interact with their patient and Dr. Carvounis is definitely grade A when it comes to how he treats his patients and how much he cares for them. At Baylor, wait times can be frustratingly long. But it is all worth it when you get to see Dr. Carvounis. He is thorough, compassionate, and answers your questions gladly.

Dr. Carvounis saw me as an emergency patient. The care I got from a detached retina was beyond anything I would of expected. The care I've got post surgery is awesome. This doctor really cares for his patients. He has since told me I could be seen by my local eye doctors, but wanted me back in Houston if anything came up, I pray nothing comes up but, if it does I would not want anyone else as my doctor!

I received the best care possible for a detached retina. Being a first time patient I described the symptoms over the phone a was asked to come in immediately to his office. Dr Carvounis examined me and scheduled the surgery for the next morning. The surgery was successful in saving my eye sight to my left eye.
