Dr. Philip Anthony Chafe, MD

When I saw Dr. Chafe for the first time in the Emergency Room, he yelled at me that my symptoms were not emergent. Then, he had the nurse come to ask me who prescribed Paxil for me. When I told him that it was Samaritan, he looked in my record and wrote on my discharge paper that I needed to see my psychiatrist from twenty years ago. I registered two complaints, one with the hospital and one with the New York State Department of Health Office of Professional Medical Conduct. Then, I saved the discharge paper. Please contact them too when you have a problem with him. If we all complain, something will be done. Just Google them. I saw him again in the Emergency Room ten months later, he did not come into the room, thank God, but when I left, he and the nurses sitting with him were all staring at me. One of the nurses said, sarcastically, "See ya later".

I brought my father to the emergency room and Dr. Chafe was the attending Dr. He was extremely calming and explained things to put us at ease. Thank you- for all your help!!

I went in by ambulance because I fell and hit my head where my shunt is and not only was he very rude to me but poked my head and said well there is no bruising... you should have just stayed home and took pain meds...he didnt even xray it or anything... just sent me home...I could have died

Dr. Chafe is he worst doctor I have ever had in my life. He gave me a hard time while I was very sick in the Emergency Room. He told me that all of my tests were normal and would not acknowledge my pending test. When he discharged me, he wrote that I should see a psychiatrist. I actually have several real physical things wrong. I am seeing several doctors for my problems. Dr. Chafe should not have a medical license and should not be allowed near patients.

Terrible. Left me in exam room for three hours with severe pain. Worst pain I ever had.

I went to the ER for difficulty breathing. I was mistreated and essentially ignored. I was then discharged without any answer to why I was having problems. I later went to a different hospital and was diagnosed with a blood clot. The other hospital told me I could have died if I hadn't come in! How can you be a doctor and miss something so important??? Never again!

He came in to the examining room. Spoke for five seconds brushed a serious matter off and left stating he will be back. An hour later I went to go ask for the doctor. He had left the hospital to go home about a half hour earlier. No courtesy to even check in and state he is leaving and transferring care to a new doctor. His knowledge was not impressive and he stated "lab times can vary from 20 minutes to 40 depending on how fast people get things done". Really? Is that acceptable? And then to say that out loud? Sub par treatment!!

Because I only have Medicare he wrote me a pres for Hydrocodone instead of ording an MRI or CT scan of my back and he refused to refer me to a specialist only to a pain clinic, a place described to me by Elizabeth Loveland RN (Orthopaedic) as a place where interns observe my pain. Tonight told Paul Otero Dr Chafe would not call me back to discuss my discomfort or changing my pres from Hydrocodone to Oxycodone since the Hydro makes me suffocate when I lie down. I'm in severe pain and he neither felt an MRI nor CT scan was necessary?
