Dr. Philip Lawrence Florio, MD

When I called to make an appointment I asked if the doctor was taking on new patients and was told yes. Automated called to confirm appointment. The got a call to reschedule because doctor would not be there; so I rescheduled for next day. Get to appoinment 45 minutes early to do whayever paperwork necessary; then at the time I should be seeing the doctorI'm told he's not seeing new patients; a waste of my time and gas. Wanted to palm me off to another doctor that I had not done an Internet research on. Total waste of time. Doctor and staff need to get on the same page.

Dr. Florio recommended to my wife that she get a tubal ligation after the birth of our 3rd child. She was only 35 years old at the time, with no complications to her or any of the babies during pregnancy. Told her he didn't believe in having anymore C-Sections after 3 and why would we want to have a 4th child and have to put him/her through college when putting 3 through would be tough enough (Real nice and how ethical and immoral). He told her that the procedure was safe with no side effects. She went through with the procedure and prior to leaving the hospital 4 days later, she was very upset and crying when she realized that our 3rd child would be our last and the last time we would ever expierence the joy of taking home a newborn; if we so desired to have another child. Afterwards her menstral cycles became irregular and she had to take medication for it and suffered mood swings. I truly believe she suffered and continues to suffer from several symptoms associated with PTLS… till this day; 10 years later. He never told her anything about the possibility of PTLS. Most upsetting is that my wife informed me several months ago, that she is sorry and deeply regrets ever having the procedure done (I guess Dr. Florio forgot to mention that to her too). So for 10 years she has had to live with and deal with his "expert" opinion and its ramifications, that not only affected her but our family too. I wish she would have said something about this several years ago, so we might have explored the possibility of having a Tubal Reversal; to correct his mistake and relieve and alleviate the symptoms of her PTLS.

Very caring person who really takes time advising and listening. Have been going to him for over 25 years.

Dr. Florio one of the best! he delivered my daughter and had a wonderful pregnancy with his guidance! Unfortunate he doesn't do deliveries any more and his colleges are not like him so had to leave .

Staff is rude!

I moved away from the area a few years ago.I have never found a MD where I live that is 1/2 as good as Dr. Florio. They don't make doctors like him anymore.Competent, caring,compassionate, intelligent-- = Dr. Florio

I don't like Dr. Florio's bedside manner and I feel that he is an alarmist, so I dropped him. He called me at my home to try and push the dangerous drug Actonel on me to improve bone density (I thank God I didn't listen to him with all the bad reports on these class of drugs in the news lately). His partner in the Yonkers Avenue office, Dr. R. is a much nicer, patient, doctor.

I've been a patient of Dr. Florio's for 39 years - he's very compassionate, knowledgeable and very thorough in his care and treatment. His staff is also wonderful you can't find a better group!
