Dr. Philip Nakashima is very Knowledgeable, Friendly, Professional, Patient and his Communication skills are excellent. Dr. Nakashima explains thoroughly and answers my questions. He sits down with me and LISTENS to all my questions. He Gives me Excellent advice.

I was a patient of Nakashima's for several years and while there were glitches, they did not rise to the level of negligence and incompetence of the last week. In a full week, the simple task of refilling insulin, which I require to live, could not be accomplished with more than a half-dozen calls and a fax (the only means of contact bc no one answers the phone during regular business hours) because no one, not the MA's, not Nakashima, not anyone from Dignity Health could be bothered to either authorize the med or call to explain why. Nor would Nakashima, his office or Dignity Health respond to Walgreens. Finally, Dignity Health connected me to Natalie, the MA, all she offered was lame excuses, e.g., so many patients didn't know about the new alliance (of which I am one) and were upset, their system don't work together, they got rid of the existing staff and were short-staffed, just more incompetence on display. This change over happened 10-1-20, 8 weeks ago, and they don't have… staff, don't answer the phone, can't be bothered to refill a life saving med, and have the arrogance, unprofessionalism, and negligence to not call patients. Find a doctor and practice that takes responsibility, recognizes mistakes/glitches and actually fixes them, as opposed to blaming patients for expecting actual professional care. In short, avoid Nakashima and any other healthcare provider who allows Dignity Health to run their practice.

Dr. Nakashima is OK for routine visits, if you are in need of a diagnosis or having a condition that needs to be managed well another MD might be more appropriate considering his unprofessional staff, particularly Carole who is also rude, abrupt and a bully. No calls are ever returned. No calls are ever answered if Mildred is out, the only one of the receptionists that almost does a decent job. I am surprised Carole is still on staff considering what a huge liability she is. I witnessed her literally threatening a client by saying "Do not get me mad because you are going to regret it!" The client was stating that Dr. Nakashima was already running a hour and a half late and he was asking for an estimate how much longer it would take before he was seen. I left, never went back, and I assure you my new MD and his staff treat everyone with courtesy and respect.

Although Dr. Nakashima can act quite amiable, he wears blinders, and his stubborn, robotic, myopic attitude is hard to deal with when you are sick. He is also not qualified to give advice about personal (and private) matters that are not related to medicine or to the purpose of your visit. In this sense he is rude and condescending. Saying "goodbye" to this doctor is actually the best medicine and I heartily prescribe it to anyone who feels even sicker after a visit with him.

In these times you want a Doctor who listens to your problems.After listening you problem solve based on the Doctors knowledge of your medical problem.I have been with Dr.Nakishima i believe about 3 years.I am a Diabetic and recently due to Dr.Nakishma's staying on top of my Colonoscopy and Prostate he didcovered a rising that was discovered to be Prostate Cancer.Phillip takes the time to know his patients. "not just a pat on the back" and you will be fine.I have the utmost respect for his advise and guidance in preventive medicine. Become a patient and come to the world of "Medicine Of Today".

Dr. Nakashima's insensitive social skills can make anyone sick.

Very personable & professional. Seems to be interested in my health but is quite often extremely & unduly busy...must have too much extraneous paperwork for the greedy insurance companies. I would definitely recommend him & have done so in the past
