The first time I consulted with Dr. Pirtle about my COPD, he treated me with such respect as he explained things and made suggestions. He never once criticized me for having smoked for 50 years. He was so respectful and kind, while being thorough with matter-of-fact description of the disease, that I was inspired to finally give up the last six or so cigarettes a day I had been clinging to. Over the past six years he has continued to be thorough in treating me and testing my lungs. COPD is incurable and progressive, but my lung condition has worsened only very slightly during that time, if at all. In some ways my symptoms have lessened.

Staff never returned call and tried 3 days consecutively before surgery. Dr. Pirtle seemed more interested in throwing in my face of why I was in hospital (smoking, lung cancer) and that I should be thankful that I was alive instead of listening to me about how my chest tube was not connected and called me a liar until I had the nurse come in and explain what happened and how it had not been connected for they don't know how long. And its been the same song and dance and my 7 day stay is now over 19 days because no one can seem to get it straight. He also had the nerve to tell me that he really didn't have time to explain things as he needed to go see another patient and let them know they were dying. I'm alive, I took myself to the doctor for a complete checkup as I just lost my mother to cancer, It was only stage 1 cancer, I was told this was simple process and should be home in no time but over 19 days and I can't have a few minutes to discuss my issues and what is going on in… English so that I can understand. I don't get it. He took out chest tube and nothing was given to help with pain and then the next day I was rushed back to CCU with a collapsed lung and I asked for a sedative please as they were going to put tubes back in my chest and was told I didn't need anything that I'd be fine. Well everyone heard the screams of pain as I was opened back up in CCU unit and tubes shoved back in me. Next time, I hope you are my patient so I can tell you to basically suck it up and deal with it. Unbelievable treatment. My lawyer will be contacted. Might know what he is doing but bedside manner shows he doesn't give a %*!?. What happened to caring doctors anymore.

Very smart and compassionate MD. Honest thorough and kind . Very fortunate to have a doctor like him in our area.
