Philip W. Ponder, MD, FACOG, was led to the field of obstetrics and gynecology after his first day of clinical rotations when he witnessed his first caesarian section. He knew then that was what he wanted to do. In the two decades he has been practicing medicine, Dr. Ponder has found he enjoys many other aspects of his specialty as well. He enjoys enjoy routine obstetrics, delivering babies and gynecologic surgery, particularly robotic surgery. Away from the office, Dr. Ponder enjoys spending time with his wife, Carolyn, who is a nurse practitioner in women's health, and his son and daughter. He enjoys going to sporting events with his son, especially college football. He also enjoys playing tennis and running with his daughter.

Dr. Ponder has been my GYN for a number of years. He remembers me from year-to-year on my annual check-ups, listens attentively to anything pertaining to my overall health, asks insightful questions, and gives me the impression that taking care of me is the most important thing he has to do that day. Over the years he's worked with me to resolve several GYN related issues. He has certainly earned my trust and admiration.

Dr. Ponder is fabulous as he has been my provider for 16 years. I have been a patient as an expecting mother, he delivered my 1st child and as a surgical patient, most recently. His bedside manner is great and has a lot of expertise in gynecology and obstetrics. I highly recommend him!

I'm a fairly new resident to the North Carolina. I am a 41 year old female of a long history of menstrual problems. History of endometriosis. I was very impressed by Dr. Ponders bed side manner and patience. He took the time to listen and answer all the questions I was unsure of. I believe I have meet the physician like the one I had back home.

I've had quite a few OBGYNs, as I've moved a lot. Ponder is honestly one of two doctors I've ever had that I would highly recommend. You don't have to wait 3 months for an appointment, and he actually seems like he cares about you as a person and not just as a patient.
