Dr. Phillip Kailai Kwong, MD

I was a new patient with a 12:30 appointment. I was not sen until 2:40. I was in the exam room, alone for an hour. I finally asked where the doctor waa. I was told he often ran late. Over 2 hours is more than running late. . When I was finally seen, Dr. Kwong spent all of 10 minutes with me, a NEW PATIENT.. His behavior was totally unacceptable. I would never recommend him to anyone..

Dr Kwong did a bunionectomy and was ruined my foot for life!

I had an ATV accident breaking my leg and completely tearing ligaments in my ankle and foot. I was referred to Dr. Kwong by another doctor, who told me he was excellent, experienced, and very detailed and precise. After an extensive exam, X-rays, and an MRI, he told me he could repair the injuries in surgery by putting in a metal plate in the broken leg, and some small cables to reattach the ligaments. Everything went very well. He is very nice, spent a great deal of time with me initially, and at the post surgery follow-up appointments. The initial appointment took a long time, but I never waited more than 10 minutes at the follow-up appointments. He had me work regularly with a Physical Therapist after the cast was removed. I highly recommend Dr. Kwong.

From the basic standpoint to see him...I think Dr Kwong is fine. From the experience of seeing him...it's awful. Ive gone several times...minimum wait is 45 minutes past appointment time. I've waited as long as 75 minutes past appointment time. His assistant is an incompetent to say the least once gave me this stupid grin and an explanation for the constant wait "...it's like when the 405 gets backed up..." I replied "the 405 is a free highway...this is a premium toll road...you dont expect traffic on higher priced toll roads". As for the Dr...never smiles...seems to always rush (probably cause he way over books his patients)...

I was so appalled at the dismissive way I was treated. He has no personality and no empathy! I injured my foot in a ballet class and was unable to put any weight on it for the two days before my appointment. He never asked me how I hurt my foot! He just looked at x-rays my family physician took and told me I had arthritis and needed orthotic inserts for my shoes and physical therapy. He hustled me off to another room to see the orthotics fitter, who wanted $300 up front because he won't bill insurance. I became hysterical, because I could not walk at all. The orthotic fitter went to Dr. Kwong and asked him to reconsider.the diagnosis. I was put in a moon boot, given crutches, and told to schedule an MRI downstairs. Dr. Kwong came back in and said "I hope you can get over this, because if you don't, I will have to fuse your joint!" I left and scheduled an MRI at another facility. It turns out I had STRESS FRACTURES OF THE 2ND AND 3RD METATARSALS! He should be ashamed of himself!

Dr. Kwong has a very quiet and contemplative bedside manner. He recently repaired the work of a world famous foot and ankle surgeon who left me in agony and consistently said that there was no problem with the surgery result even though it did not heal. I dont believe that Dr. Kwong would take a case that he did not believe he could do very well. During my consultation he thought for a very long time, looking at my foot many times before agreeing to the surgery. The staff at Kerlan-Jobe is top rate. I couldnt be any happier with Dr. Kwongs care.

I work with orthopaedic specialists and I have consulted several "good ones" for a problem on my right ankle that, in 7 years, not one had being able to diagnose acurately. After all types of treatmens and failures by the other docs, Dr. Kwong identified the problem immediately and corrected it putting the end to my long past suffering. He is GREAT!!!
